Review: I hadn't had South Indian food in a long time and was pleased to find Nalapak, a fabulous joint with friendly service and great food. Their dosa (sometimes spelled dosai) was crisp, huge, light and fresh; their Jalfrezi curry was creamy and spicy and went well with airy, un-oily chaptati. Their samosas were also light and crispy with well-seasoned filling. The service was extremely friendly and the menu clearly listed what was vegan and what was lacto-vegetarian; they even have tofu as an option to paneer, which is not a common option in Indian restaurants. Highly recommended.
Pros: Taste * Quality * Service
Cons: * * |

Review: I was a little hesitant about eating here, because of the mixed reviews... especially since the change of ownership.
But WOW!! This is definitely, by far, the best Indian restaurant I've ever eaten at! I now go to the buffet almost as a weekly pilgrimage, and am also going to dinner tonight with a friend. My first impressions of the place was 1) It's the only Indian restaurant I've been to where almost all of the patrons are themselves Indian (that's gotta say a lot right there); 2) The inside resembles a well-done sports bar, minus the bar. The establishment is quality, the service is quality, the food is quality. It's all just... quality. I now recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat out Indian.
Some notes: While the majority of the patrons are Indian, I've noticed that there's an amazing diversity in the ethnicity of the minority patrons: Causasian, Asian, other South Asian, etc. Everyone loves this food.
Much of the food is also vegan, and it seems as though a lot of it, if not all of it, is also Vedic... meaning vegetarian, minus garlic and onions.
Pros: Amazing food * Great service * Nice atmosphere
Cons: Some food items not clearly labeled * slightly more expensive buffets * would prefer more natural lighting |
