A breath of fresh air

Visiting the Raleigh area you'll notice quickly that there are not many vegan options. This place has at least 5 options on the menu available any time not to mention the soup or other modifications that the owner is willing to do at any time. I got "This Little Piggy" which was very good. Artistic atmosphere and very friendly service.

Sosta is my favorite European cafe in town with local art on display and tasty choices for vegans and vegetarians including fresh salads, snacks and lattes. The salads are delicious but the vegan sampler and veggie burger are my favorites. In addition to the vegan/vegetarian options, the owners are very willing to modify sandwiches and plates off the menu to meet my weird dietary needs. Often there's vegan/vegetarian soups made fresh daily and their coffee is the best in town. Yummy!

Sosta is a great lunch spot in downtown Raleigh. They have really good vegan chicken salad and a vegan bbq sandwich too. Ciabatta bread is definitely vegan -- not sure about some of their other breads. The veggie burger is vegan as long as you order it without cheese and mayo -- can't comment on it though because I haven't tried it. You can also order a vegan version of their sampler plate which is awesome because it gives you a sampling of both the chicken salad and bbq as well as all of their great bean salads (garbanzo, cannellini and israeli couscous) -- which are all delicious! They have the best soy chai and good coffee drinks. oh -- and the owners are very helpful and friendly!

Pros: excellent food, friendly staff, good size portions
Cons: not open on the weekends or evenings
