Review: Stopped here for lunch last week while on one of our charity shop shopping trips up the Dumbarton Road. While it's not a vegetarian cafe/restaurant as such, the majority of the menu is vegetarian and there are a number of vegan options. Sith offers breakfasts, a selection of tapas style items, wraps/paninis and several platters for lunch. There is a seperate dinner menu served after 6pm, again featuring a number of vegan options. We both had wraps, choosing several fillings each (hummous, smoked tofu, sun dried tomatoes ...), which came with salad and some root vegetable crisps. We couldn't resist trying the cake, especially as vegan chocolate cake was on offer and they were right to describe the "Jakey Cakey" as famous - basically chocolate cake with warm chocolate sauce. All the food was good, the cake very good and all served by very friendly staff. We also drank Whole Earth cola, fairtrade coffee and a freshly prepared smoothee - the latter was experimental by the staff's own admission but turned out rather well. All this came out at around £15 and we felt sufficiently reinvigorated to go back out onto shower Dumbarton Road and continue are tour of it's numerous charity shops.
The cafe also offers a variety of fairtrade type gift items, clothing, vegan shoes and some groceries. There are a couple of sofas and about 6 tables and chairs - I imagine on their game nights it could get quite busy but the atmosphere definitely is friendly and relaxed.
Will be returning, especially as it's the most veggie/vegan friendly place we've found that far West in Glasgow, it's nearest rival being The 78 about a mile to the East.
Pros: Choice of food * Friendly * Cake
Cons: Not 100% veggie/vegan * Limited seating * |
