Review: I visited the San Diego Nature's Express on a Saturday about 11:30am. The dining room buffet side of the restaraunt was empty except for one employee. The buffet was for "brunch" and offered a reasonable selection, but was limited to salad makings and a few hot items. The drive through counter has lunch type offerings so I asked to see that menu. The Drive through menu can only be ordered from the drive through. I rolled, I'm in a wheelchair, to the outside window and ordered a mushroom, swiss, burger and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was cold, but edible. The sweet potato fries were more like chips and dripping in oil, partially cooked, yet also edible. So my guess is that I visited on an "Off day".
Pros: friendly staff * good parking *
Cons: disabled limited at best * cold food * not unique |

Review: Definitely support Natures Express! I loved the "chicken fingers" with the ranch and bbq sauce. Sweet potato fries, yes! The burgers are fantastic. Not too crazy about the desserts but you can hit up Stephanies Bakery if you still have room.
Pros: good value * friendly staff * vegan!

Review: I almost didn't come here based on some of the negative reviews on this site. I'm glad I did though as the food was actually really quite good. I'm generally not a fan of buffets but the variety of vegan dishes was to my liking and nothing I tried was ever cold. I do agree that the plates seem small at first for what you pay but after eating a plate of a food and a bowl of soup I was stuffed. Definitely give this place a try.

Review: The prices are expensive. They only have a buffet and a drive-through. The buffet always seems old and the drive-through is not nearly as good as Veg 'N Out, which is close-by and has the most awesome vegan burgers and fries.

Cons: Old food * * |

Review: Really liked this place. Ate out on the patio with my dogs, and it was nice. Food was really good, though a little overpriced. A couple dollars cheaper for the plates and I would eat there a lot more often.

Review: First of all, it is SO nice to eat at a restaurant where I don't have to ASK what is in something!?!?! EVERYTHING is VEGAN! It's so wonderful! AND on top of that, they actually post the ingredients in their dishes, which is so nice! We only ate inside for the longest time... stuffed avocados - YUM! Raw hummus (yeah baby!) Great salad bar. I'm not overly keen on the hot menu items... I mainly eat from the cold bar - mostly raw and I'm always satisfied. The only issue I've had is them running out of chips for the guac/hummus... on a number of occasions. Besides that, it's heaven. Then one day we tried out the drive thru! Sweet! Burger and Fries - Vegan style! I love it! Well, it's not as healthy as the inside, but if you're in the mood for fastfood and you're Vegan or Veggie... this place is Gods gift to San Diego! Where else is there a VEGAN FAST FOOD drive thru!?!?!? I'd skip the sweet potato fries tho, because they were sliced more like chips but they weren't crispy, they were soggy. BUT their regular fries are delicious! Mushroom swiss burger is to die for. Thank you Natures Express! We love you!! XO :O )
Pros: Stuffed Avocados * Raw Hummus * Drive Thru
Cons: * * |

Review: This place is fan-f-ing-tastic. The drive thru is 100% Vegan and really reasonably priced. I got a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a natural cola. I was not expecting much but just really wanted to support a vegan eatery - but was I blown away when it beat the best omni fast food I've had (pre-veg) hands-down. My fiance is omni and he got the chicken burger, sweetpotato fries and a soda -- and LOVED it. Take your non-veg friends and family because they will be stoked on how good the drive thru is. The service was friendly (if slow, but good things are worth waiting for.) I didn't eat at the buffet next door although I would go back and try it; but I did get their brownie pudding cup dessert and aside from a caroby aftertaste that I got over pretty quickly, it was really really good.
Please support awesome vegan food like this so it will stay around for everyone's enjoyment AND convenience! I can't give this place enough stars. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Pros: 100% VEGAN * Amazing fast food drive thru * Price
Cons: Tad Slow * Long drive * |

Review: I looked up the place on their website and was sooooo excited because there are so many options. When I got there I saw a big buffet set up and was even more excited that could try everything. The buffet price is a bit crazy though. For little plates, just a bit bigger than a saucer, it's $7.for large plates, a bit smaller than a dinner plate, $10. After getting a little of everything on 3 small plates I paid and dug in. I was so incredibly disappointed to find the flavors so dull. They weren't subtle, but straight up bland! I wanted to tell the cook or someone sooooo bad that this food is not going to keep people coming back, and that's such a shame cause who doesn't love a VEGAN buffet everyday of the week? I think they're the only ones in san diego with one. I certainly hope that their drive thru of burgers and shakes is better. I'll definetly go back in the hopes that they can pull that off. If not, I'll stick with veg-n-out for killer burgers and my all time fav Vegan Zone.
Pros: lots of variety * vegan shakes * drive thru
Cons: buffet expensive * bland food * |

Review: OH ME GOODY GOSH!!!!!!!
HEY!!! This is neither for the critics nor the hater's cuz I don't believe in that...I am straight up praises nor constructive kindness --- always... Sorry guys but I strongly believe in positive feedback...And this one is going to be longer than usual...
I have been a vegan for 20 years and lived and eaten on 4 different continents and no less than 5 different countries... I have worked Soul Vegetarian in the States, Israel and London and also in other vegetarian restaurants in London and Germany...I am writing this not to brag about me, forget that, at all but to let you know I know what I am talking about because this was/ IS special...
I went to Nature's Express yesterday and I am sure we will go again today because this was THE BEST EXPERIENCE I honestly EVER had at a vegan = HEALTHY eatery! IT SIMPLY MADE ME HAPPY ALL THE DAY LONG!!!!!!!
I had researched them a bit on their website www.naturesexpress.com and I am so proud of the people who set this place up because it IS SO VERY NEEDED in the world today to have places that provide tasty health food and yes, fast (healthy) food, too, for ALL people...So much THANKS and RESPECT to you!!!!!!!
Doesn't matter if you are carnivore or herbivore you will enjoy eating there...This place is family orientated...We drove up to this clean and sunny looking place and were greeted by some of the nicest, young and enthusiastic people I ever met anywhere...I like being treated good, to me that is part of the experience and extremely important to my family and I... They served in the spirit I serve in when I work and I LOVED it and won't take it for granted --- so praises here for the GREAT service...Made me smile...
Now to the most delicious part...I know peeps who can throw down on some vegan cooking but I got to give it to these guys here --- I NEVER had a better Vegan Cheese Burger in my entire life. Remember, I have MADE and CREATED versions of vegan burgers as part of my trade as a chef and also I have eaten all around the world in the best vegan places etc...BUT --- Eating this burger made me hum yall'...I got all happy with the toasted, perfectly light but whole wheat bun... The trimmings were SUPREME and everything tasted so so good...I laughed and sang eating it along with a batch of truly REAL ( paper bagged and not greasy) home fried potatoes dipped in homemade ketchup...We also had the "Chicken Tenders" with BBQ sauce and they also were THA BEST EVAH, no joke...
I went around and into the sit in restaurant --- more sweet people and "get outta here" --- they had a HEALTHY fountain drink bar ---- WHAT???!!!! So so cool...Blue Mountain from the fountain...(Hey, I like sodas sometimes...) They also had real fresh and neat looking cooked food ( green greens, Tofu, Veggies etc) that smelled fantastic volumes and a great salad bar. Last but not least is the AWESOME Peanut butter soft serve I SCREEM (YEAH) and some of the best vegan baked treats available anywhere ---- and I was born in Germany where we make the best German Chocolate Cake , Bread and you name it...This is a known fact...Well...I got to pass it on to these guys because the "Very Berry Turnover" made with delicious Filo- pastry was truly as yummy as any non vegan ones I used to eat BUT this one was a healthy choice!!!!!!!
What makes me so GLAD about this place is that this country and many others in the world have all the food on the planet yet have had one health crisis after another, especially for the poor children growing up on supersized junk...This IS a great step toward turning things around and I am excited... Let me be forward with you... I HOPE that places like this will one by one replace these "make everyone so friggin' supersize me sick" places so that all children, women and men can have a chance of health once more!!!
One more thing I would like to acknowledge which is equally important is their aim to be as green as possible which we need on the planet NOW...I saw their effort in their mainly paper bagged items and also the plastic containers they did use were eco friendly...
All around a SUPER FAN-TASTIC experience...Go by yourself, with friends or take the family --- you will be like me, no doubt, you will be happy...

Review: I didn't have the oppportunity to eat at the actual store front when I was in San Diego, but I did pick up some of their packaged items from the People's Co-op in Ocean Beach for the ride home. So far I have had the Lime Tequila Chicken Wrap which was very fresh tasting and delicious. I also have the tofu pesto wrap which I will eat for lunch tomorrow but it looks to be delicious. They also have a location in Yuma, AZ. I hope to eat at one of their store fronts in the future. Much better than Veg-N-Out in North Park. If you only have time for one fast food vegan place in SD go here! Oh, also, I found the pricing to be reasonable. It is more than regular fast food, but you are eating healthy stuff here so that is to be expected. $5.95 for a vegan sandwhich seems cheap to me compared to other vegan restaurants. And the combinations are inventive. I think they put a lot of care into their food.
Pros: fresh and tasty * good prices * convenient
Cons: not one in Flagstaff, AZ * * |

Review: We ate food from both the outside drive thru that supplies burgers, chickn' tender, shakes, fries, etc. But also inside the cafe that had pancakes and brunch food up for offer.
The pancakes were not awesome but the softserve was. They also had tons of desserts.
The drive thru on the other hand was awesome. The burgers were great and they had excellent buns. The chickn' tenders were the best I've ever had. My daughter loved them. I wasn't super impressed with the fries. They tasted fresh but weren't really cooked the way I liked. My milk shake was great.
I'll be going back.
Pros: hard to find vegan fast food * milk shakes! * soft serve
Cons: pricy cafe food * * |

Review: I mean c'mon, management, have you even tried the lentil loaf and mashed potatoes you have on the buffet? The lentil loaf has no taste, is dry and crumbly, the mashed potatoes are warm at best and lumpy. Not very good and not very tasty.. Also, this idea of so much of a charge per plate seems goofy. By the ounce makes more sense to me. This thing of how high can you pile your food and stay within the price is insane. Leaving open abuse and problems. I paid for a big plate which had no more food that the small plate would hold, so I felt ripped off.
I think you just really need to ask yourselves, is this food good or not? If not, replace it with something excellent and tasty.
Pros: Good location * Convenient parking * Drive up
Cons: Pricing is weird * Buffet is ordinary * |

Review: They haven't even had their grand opening yet. They are actually open, yet the phone number is currently wrong on the website. The owner didn't appear to care so much.
The food is tasty yet could be better and is priced a bit high. I recommend they add a combo meal for the price they are charging.
In defense of them, they are experimenting with different combination and their current offering may not be the same when they open for good. My worst complaint of them is that the BBQ sauce was barely noticeable and very tasty.
Pros: Convenient * taste was ok * speed of service
Cons: price * was a microwave used to heat the food? * |
