Review: I love this place. I think that says it all. If I lived closer, I swear I'd eat there at least 3 times a week. The fact that is is now Kosher makes it totally kewl because now me and my parents/friends can all eat together.

Review: the first time i went, i swore i'd never go back -- not enough stuff on menu, slow service, etc. HOWEVER, i did return less than a month ago and it was FANTASTIC. service was still really slow, but they only have a few ppl working there. The mac n cheese is vegan and is seriously the best vegan m&c ive every encountered. like better than Madeline's bistro in LA.

Pros: nice seating * great menu * fun atmosphere
Cons: slow service * *

Review: I've been trying to go here ever since I heard it opened, but I actually moved out of St.louis when Eternity Deli closed as I had determined that there was no hope for a vegan in St.louis any more... I'm back visiting and made it here my second day in town and was blown away! The deli is very nice and hip with inside and limited outside seating. They fresh juices are amazing, I did the strawberry, bannana ginger. I also asked the owner to recommend a low fat option and he informed me that most of the items except the pesto were made w/o oil!!! I had the Cajun wrap, which while it wasn't a large portion was PERFECTION! I was beyond please with my food, there were a lot of people and it came out quickly and hot. There are plenty of Free Magazines/Newspapers to read while your waiting. BRAVO STL VegaDeli is awesome!!!

Pros: low fat options * Cajun Wrap * Juices
Cons: closes from 2 to 5 * *

Review: I am delighted that there is a vegan restaurant in Chesterfield. The first time I was there I had a mango chutney burger and juice, both of which were pretty good. The second time I had a BBQ burger and juice, plus some different desserts that we shared at the table.
I like their bread and their juices are all excellent.
The second time I went, the co-owner could not remember what we ordered and the place is just run a little inefficiently. For those of you who remember Eternity, it's not that bad. For those of us who compare vegan places to other restaurants, this one doesn't really shine as far as service goes. It's small and there are only two people working, so it is slow.
With all that being said, I will continue to support this place because the juice is excellent, all the food is fresh and good and everything is healthy. I like the decor, I like the laid back feeling and I do like the owners.

Pros: fresh ingredients * juices * baked goods
Cons: slow service * *

Review: I wrote about VegaDeli a few months ago and gave them a mixed review but things have changed! I've visited several more times since then and the food keeps getting better. The McVegan sandwich is my favorite menu item, but their mac & cheeze is really great too (they use Teese). The fresh baked muffins and cookies have never disappointed me either. Support this all-vegan business if you have the chance!

Review: With its healthy selections, Vegadeli is a wonderful addition to the West County landscape. Selections include items like raw soups, creative sides, yummy entrees and tempting deserts. Everything is fresh and wholesome. Although most portions are smaller than average, a couple can dine for lunch for under $25 easily.

Pros: accessible * fresh * wholesome
Cons: small dining room * small portions *

Review: Being that I have never really cooked, I've always depended on others to cook great food for me. After becoming a vegan in St. Louis, it became quite challenging to get my daily doses of healthy food and essentials. I was also having problems with being hungry shortly after eating certain meals. But after my very first visit to Vegadeli, I entered an amazing new dimension of deliciousness.

First I was greeted with smiling faces and pleasantries by the owners.
Everything looked so neat, clean, and fresh. Being a bit OCD, I'm very attentive to how food it prepared and handled. I watched as the owners each would put on plastic gloves while handling any food items, and then removed them as they went on to touch money, paper, etc. (Do you know how many times I've seen people at other restaurants touch their hair, face, clothes, money, etc, with the same gloves they use to touch the food?!) They were knowledgeable about the food they were serving (since they make it all fresh, the same day) and helpful with offering suggestions to a first timer. I order my food to go, but it never made it out of the parking lot! The vegan burger was very fresh and delicious, and was complemented by a yummy homemade vegan bun. OH the JOY of not having to ask, "Are there eggs in your bread/buns?!"

I have been back to Vegadeli so many times since that first exhilarating experience that I've lost count. No really. I have NEVER been disappointed with neither the food nor the service. I have had just about every vegan burger, hummus wrap, basil hummus wrap, McVegan, red avocado wrap, curry potato wrap, the "backward" sandwich, the everything bagel, a teriyaki eggplant, avocado, and raisin sandwich; several soups- vegetable medley, potato and herb, harvest, and raw corn chowder; about every side - stir fry brown rice (cooked several ways), herb roasted potatoes, asparagus, sweet corn, kale, etc. (just look at all the food pictures on their website!); smoothies- Fruit Fusion, Berry Burst, I Got the Power, and a chocolate smoothie (I forgot the name); muffins- blueberry, mixed berry, raisin, chocolate chip, PRETZEL (EXTREMELY DELISH!), banana nut; desserts - chocolate chip cookies, bread pudding, chocolate chip bottom cake, chocolate & vanilla cakes w/chocolate or caramel sauces. You would NEVER guess that these cakes were vegan! So moist they just melt in your mouth!

Vegadeli is the perfect place for a family, friends, dating or solo outing. Even the non-veg*ns love it! :)

Pros: delicious, fresh vegan food * helpful, friendly staff * very clean establishment w/free wi-fi
Cons: * *

Review: I've been to Vegadeli 3 or 4 times and have always enjoyed the service and food. I agree with the majority, Vegadeli is pretty good.

I find it hard to believe the 1 comment left below. The staff seem like really nice people. In any event, we need to support our Vegan establishments, because without them we'd have no place to eat out.

I'm not sure if the owner(s) even read this stuff, but if you feel so strongly about your experiences (good or bad), you should share this with them personally. I'm sure as a new business, they would appreciate any feedback; especially regarding bad service and would be quick to correct it.

I want all VEGAN place to be successful, don't you? It's up to us to help make that happen. That's just my 2-cents!

Again, overall ...I give Vegadeli a 96% out 100%.

Vegan for Life,
M.J.

• I never complained about bad service and did put the disclaimer that I may have come on an off day in terms of the food. The staff certainly knew of my displeasure, there was no need to needlessly complain. The point in reviewing places is to share your experiences, and from what I’ve seen, the only people who’ve reviewed this place have only reviewed 1-5 places…with most of them just reviewing one. I agree we should support our Vegan establishments, but I’m not going to pay for the same experience again – maybe you should try a few of the others in STL and compare? I’ve been to all the places in STL and share my opinion of their being much better places. I would respect your review but also would appreciate you respecting mine…I’m not going to lie about my experience/opinion just because they’re 100% Vegan.. response by SynthVegan

Review: I understand that I may have just come on the wrong day for this place, especially given the reviews below; however, I was not very impressed with Vegadeli and wished I would have just gone to OR Juice and Smoothies during my STL visit.

Overall, the décor was nice and inviting and the employees were too; however, my friend and I ran into far too many disappointments. I ordered the McVegan; after paying the owner came to our table and proceeded to tell me they were lacking some of the ingredients but could put spinach on it rather than tofu...so I went with the substitution. In addition to the sandwich I also ordered some of the mixed vegetables from the deli case. In my opinion everything was just OK. I didn't care too much for the McVegan, and I just ate the vegetables because I was starving...they weren't very good. My friend didn't care for the wrap, and in fact, the wrap was minimal...both meals were very small, especially for how much they were charging. I also tried my friend's smoothie and just wasn't impressed. It was made primarily of ice and we joked that you had to chew it.

I saw that they had cake at this location too. When I finished eating [my little bit of food] I was still hungry and decided to try the cake. I went up to order it, proceeded to pay for it, and just about as the girl was about to run my credit card she told me I wouldn't be able to have frosting on it. Then she talked to the owner and she said she'd put some drizzled chocolate on it. By this time, I was annoyed with the place so I opted to go without the dessert.

When I lived in St. Louis I long awaited the opening of a purely Vegan place and appreciate the fact that one has opened; however, there are far better places in St. Louis than this one. I certainly won't be back again.

• Hi Jazztraveler: I really think you’re making mountains out of mole hills with this issue, it’s just a review…an opinion of an individual which that individual has a right to have…obviously in this case that individual is myself. If my friend [who was also there with me] were to add an account here, he’d write of the same experience. It appears that you’re selectively reading my review as well, as I always support Veggie places; however, I’m not going to give it a glorified review especially if I don’t feel it deserves one. Also, I’m really beginning to question if the responses I’m getting are from management and employees, as something seems very odd here. . response by SynthVegan
• Hi Tigra220: I don’t remember you, and there most certainly wasn’t anyone at the counter when I was up there…additionally I know I was discrete about it and didn’t announce to the whole restaurant about the whole cake ordeal and didn’t announce to everyone eating that I was from Chicago; therefore, I think your thinking of someone else, sorry.. response by SynthVegan
• To All: I liked it so much the first time, that I brought my husband, the carnivore, back for a second visit. Anytime there is a new business, there is a learning curve. From my observation, they are doing what they can to try and make the VegaDeli a warm and welcoming place. I really like how they broke up the menu into two different boards now. It's easier to take in all the various choices now. As a minority in St. Louis and certainly a minority in West St. Louis County, it is imperative that we band together and do everything we can to support this new business. If we can't all agree to disagree on this one issue, how can we expect non-vegatarians to embrace our ideas as a whole? Let's put aside our disagreements and unite together to support more veggie establishments in our neighborhoods. Power comes from many voice.... response by jazztraveler
• I think that I was there at the same time that you were there. Was it this past Saturday? I was with my family, but I also had a group of friends there, b/c one of them came home from Chicago for the weekend. Anyway, your comment about the cake made me think that I remember you. I hate that you were there on that particular day b/c you did not have the chance to REALLY experience Vegadeli. They were short staffed that day and the poor owner kept running around trying to do the bulk of everything by herself. :( If I could cook, I would have offered to help her! :) But I distinctly remember the cake convo, b/c I was up at the counter waiting for my cakes to go, and I almost said, "Try one of mine!" I know "sauce" isn't what you expect to hear when ordering a cake, but it's so good; I didn't even know that it wasn't frosting unt.... response by Tigra220
• Hi Melissa, I have a feeling that you’re a person that works with this restaurant or is associated with it in some form; I can sense it in your responses, how you’re taking things way out of context, and the fact that you’ve signed up just to review this restaurant…maybe you should try more places and review more? If you read my reviews I rarely give bad reviews…I have 107 reviews on here by they way, maybe you should check them out before saying I may be a person who is never satisfied? I give my honest opinion and I don’t go attacking people based on theirs. Saying things like “seems like you’re a person who will never be completely satisfied”, “they won’t miss you”, etc. are very negative things to say – we all have the right to our opinions of these restaurants, that’s why there are sites to review them. I’m sorry you feel the n.... response by SynthVegan
• Seems like you either (1) went on an off day, or (2) you are one of the small percentage of people...regardless of the circumstances...will never be completely satisfied; or maybe both? In any event, seems like you're fortunate to have plenty of other options else where, so I'm sure you won't miss them. And from the looks of things today, they probably won't miss you either. I went for lunch again today, and could barely get in the door the place was so crowded. I will admit, the service was a little slower than before -- but the Lasagna was really good! I noticed that they are using a cash register now. They were just using a adding machine - which I thought was odd, but cool. My husbands family had a restaurant years ago and after seeing how hard they worked (day and night)..for very little money, I had a whole different r.... response by MelissaPJacobs

Review: I was delighted to find there was a vegan place in the STL area, and Vegadeli didn't disappoint. The menu changes daily, as the owner will tell you, but everything is brilliant: we had the red avocado wrap and the basil hummus pita, along with some smoothies and dessert (caramel spice cake right out of the oven and strawberry cheesecake!). My bf and I happily devoured the meal, left full yet not weighed down, and enjoyed a chat with the folks making the food, too, since it was a slow day. If Chesterfield's not on your normal radar, it is worth the trip--and it's so good to have a place like this here!!

Pros: colorful, healthy food * friendly, informed staff * great value

Review: I have been to the VegaDeli about 4 times so far and haven't had a bad meal yet. Everything I've tried on the menu (which changes daily) has been delicious, whether it's the spinach mushroom cornbread muffins, the harvest mushroom, tomato basil or lentil soups, the McVegan, the everyday bagel, the blackbean burger, the chocolate cake or chocolate chip cookies. The couple that owns it are really nice and the service is great. The location is perfect, right down Clarkson from Trader Joe's and a few miles down the highway from the new Whole Foods off of 141, if you want to make a vegan day of it in Chesterfield! Even my non-vegan friends loved the food! I would compare the prices to St. Louis Bread Company (Panera), but I think VegaDeli may even be a bit cheaper than that. I was able to buy 2 sandwiches, a cup of soup and 3 muffins for under $15. They also have the best vegan cheese I've ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Pros: Great food! * Nice staff * Clean
Cons: Closed on Sunday * *
