Review: When I came here, I didn't have high hopes, as the state of Indian food in Israel is deplorable. When we found the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. It's on a small side street of the Shuk tucked quietly amidst the chaos of the market. It's small, cozy and homey with a few tables outside too. The atmosphere reminded us somewhat of a small NYC east village kind of place. As for the food, it was pleasant, but not much more. First one of my dining companions asked for Nan bread (which in all fairness wasn't on the menu), she was told they did not have any. After that I asked for Aloo Parantha bread (which WAS on the menu), once again I was told that they're out. Only after asking for 3 different kinds of bread (4 including the Naan) did they tell us "Oh we only have Papadom" How do you have 7 types of bread on your menu and be out of six of them?!?! The place is fairly new, but this was inexcusable. They also only had one of the teas on the menu, and one of the Lassis! SO if there are no choices... why the hell did they give us menus?!?! The only choice seemed to be whether we ordered the Tali combo plate with the big rice or the Tali Combo with the small rice. The food itself is nice, but the portions were ridiculous. The portions (particularly of sauces and chutneys) would leave a caterpillar hungry. They gave us one Papadom with each combo plate, this is like serving guacamole or salsa and putting out one dorito per person, JUST RIDICULOUS! All in all, it is still a much better Indian option in Jerusalem than Kohinoor. The food is better, it is about 1/3 the price, it's more centrally located, and it's all vege!! While the choices and variety were non-existant and the portions were abysmal the little food we did get was still above average, the wait staff was pleasant and the atmosphere was nice and intimate. If you're in jerusalem and you have a craving for indian vege indian food and you don't mind paying 40 or 50 shekels, then Itchigidanna could be the ticket for you!

Pros: Centrally located * decent food *
Cons: Small portions * No selection *
