Review: We had sandwiches and a gooey chocolate cake. A good selection of loose herbal teas too. The setting is 1950s/early 60s, which is fun, but spoiled by the radio playing 2009 pop music. Turn it down, please!
Pros: Tasty food * Good selection * Friendly staff
Cons: Pop music. Off with it! * * |

Review: Really quirky little place with retro furniture. Had hemp burger and soya milkshake for lunch, then to takeaway, i brought 2 vegan choc cupcakes. Food was really nice. Will definitely visit again soon. Most stuff is vegan. 5 min walk up Mansfield Rd. On lefthand side.
Pros: Friendly staff * Decent choice * Outside seating
Cons: Outside loo! * * |

Review: I think that faerycake's review was absolutly spot on.
In fact its hard to add anything to it.
Other than, the variety of loose teas available is quite immpressive. I have particularly enjoyed the licorise and mint.... classics i know but start with what you know hey?
The coffee is lovely and better than the big guys like starbucks, but best of all is the atmosphere. No prentensions to the cool crowd or fads and the staff obviously enjoy themselves which makes for a warm lunch.
Pros: excellent food * lovely staff * child friendly
Cons: * * |

Review: Dotty's is such a nice cafe, with lovely kitch-y decor and lots of polka dots - even the staff have dotty aprons!
I come here all the time because it's always so friendly. I feel happy sitting by myself (over a caramel soy-latte!) reading, or coming along with my partner and his daughter.
It's very child-friendly, I think they have a high chair and kids' crockery for small children. More importantly for us though, because all the sandwiches, veggie burgers etc are made to order, it's possible to accommodate all of our needs really easily - from fussy teenage tastebuds to vegan adults.
And there's cake to suit all of us! There's always a great selection of vegan cupcakes (that vary all the time). I love the lavender ones, but other people prefer the triple chocolate ones!
What's also nice food wise is that I don't get bored even though I go there so frequently. As well as sandwiches being made to order, there are vegetarian and vegan specials (such as pizza and quiche) and salads that vary daily (particularly nice ones that spring to mind have been peanut-noodle, red quinoa and fennel, green bean and tapenade...).
I think the food's really good value for money. It's freshly made and tasty!
So.. thumbs up all round!
Pros: good value * friendly staff * tasty food
Cons: * * |
