Review: Nice restaurant - especially the ourdoor tables. Huge menu with all vegan dishes. Especially the vietnamese rolls were great. Went there twice and had different menues. Even my non-veg friend enjoyed the food very much. Only non-alcoholic drinks are served. English is spoken.

Pros: all vegan * huge menu * enough food
Cons: basement setting * *

Review: This is without a doubt the best Veg restaurant in Prague. Country Life on Melantrichova is a close second, though Veg Food ROCKS! Nearly everything on their menu is delicious and the wait staff are wonderful. Certainly a great dining experience awaits you if you have yet to visit Veg Food.

For a bit of culinary excitement, ask them to surprise you with something off the menu. They do a great job! I just wish I could give them a higher happy cow rating.

The only improvement I can think of is if they offered alcohol.

Pros: Awesome food * Great waitress * Awesome food
Cons: None * Well, perhaps add some wine to the menu. *

Review: I am not a big fan of the fake meat, but they do it well here. Lunch specials around 100Kc include fizzy water, soup and main dish - 4 choices per day. Lots of dishes to choose from. Good location outside of the touristy area, lowered from street level with patio eating. I am not too fond of the vegan/Buddhist propaganda in the restaurant (including "supreme master TV" -- not that I am against the principles, it is just a little over-the-top.

Pros: variety * value * location
Cons: fake meat * propaganda *

• Hi Bill Hog, I agree with you on the TV thing. I've been to places that have massive screens on the wall, and I think they detract from the ambiance of the place. The TV becomes the ambiance!. response by Jeffrey
• If a little supreme master tv is what I must endure to get such great vegan restaurants in my hood, then let supreme master tv run rampant! I would hate to deter people from going to Veg Food, thus denying them much needed customers, and have them go out of business and leave me one less vegan restaurant to frequent. You don't have to watch the tv. And about being over the top; do you really consider a tv and some pamphlets to be over the top? You must go crazy every time you step out of your house. Sounds like you need to do a reality check. Peace.. response by thevegan

Review: Dragging my meat eating colleague around Prague on an orienteering mission to find Veg Food, we finally found it and went in to order.
The place is clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly and speak good English, which for us was a bonus as we only had 2 days to learn Czech!
The food was well presented and excellent value for money, as well as being delicious to eat.
My colleague also admitted that he was 'pleasantly surprised'.
I thoroughly recommend this place for both meat and non-meat eaters, five cows :)

Pros: Friendly staff * Good food * Ecellent value
Cons: * *

Review: I heard about this new restaurant from a friend, and ate there four times since they opened. The staff were super-friendly (and if you can't speak Czech, most of them speak English), and the place was really nice to sit in - there's enough room between tables (and a few tables outside), the design is quite simple and clean (in the good sense of "not overwhelming"). The main attraction, other than the food, is the telly - Supreme Master TV, something I came across for the first time in VegFood. You can watch vegan cooking programmes, their own news programme (called Noteworthy News or something similar), vegetarian or ecological propaganda or even an interview with the captain of the Sea Shepherd, telling about the experience of running a vegan ship... There's definitely added value there, though it's comedy value, at times. As for the food, most of it was very good - I think this place definitely offers the most varied menu for a vegan in Prague (everything is vegan, even though the English menu lists something with yogurt, I was told that they started out as a veggie restaurant and they don't use dairy anymore). They have business lunches everyday for ridiculous prices (98 CZK, including a small soup, two main courses to choose from and a glass of juice, the portion size is more than decent). The tuesday meal was by far the best one - the asian mushroom soup was amazing, and my main dish was just as good - tofu karabanatky s ryzi, fake meat in sweet-sour sauce with rice. The other dish on offer was nice, but not as good. The wednesday meal (green soup, tofu Au Lac) was filling, and tasted alright, but not much more than that, and tuesday was far better. On another day we had the summer rolls, which were great, and two other dishes I can't remember - one with aubergine (quite good), one with vegetables in sweet-sour sauce (brilliant). They also do standard European/international food - I had the schnitzel with mash potato (served with sliced vegetables, that Europeans insist on calling "salad" for some reason) - it was very good. The one desert we tried was excellent - some sort of chocolate cake, if I remember correctly. This was definitely my favourite vegan (or veggie) restaurant in Prague.

"vegan food but mostly asian friend tofu/seitan"

Review: Review: ok so it's one of those fake meat asian places, so the seitan or tofu is often of the fried variety (i.e. not very healthy). nice, fast, service. they have a vegan sushi which is rather ok. no alcohol, if that's your thing. the interior is like what you would find at a restaurant at a mid-range (say 3 star) hotel (hampton in, marriot, etc) in the U.S. if you're nearby one of the italian restaurants down the street (with outdoor seating) may be a better option.

Pros: nice people * fast service * asian
Cons: fried * ambience * don't bring a date here

Review: i stopped by this nondescript-from-the-street-but-charming-inside place for dinner before a movie. there were tonnes of yummy-looking menu items but i had, to start, rice paper rolls with veg ham slices and veggies. they were lovely - tangy with coriander and with very fresh vegetables. then, for a main course, i had the "kung-pao" dish with veg meat slices and sweet pepper with a side of rice. it was gorgeous...this place does not rely on sugar and oil for their sauce bases (as a lot of mock-meat chinese restaurants do). everything had beautiful flavour. also, the prices were excellent (i paid about $12 for a starter, a main and a bottle of water) and the staff very friendly. this place is highly recommended!

note: it may seem a bit out of the way on the map, but in reality is quite close to the old town square.
