Review: I've eaten the other location and have fond memories as to how good the food is here. This time around I just stopped in to check out the new location and to get a snack for later. The new location is very nice and the employees are as well. The chocolate chip cookie on the other hand wasn't so nice and I feel it can improve. Overall though I still recommend RFD.

Review: Three of us came here for lunch today - a vegan, a vegetarian, and a non-veg. Our consensus was that the food was very good. But pricey. The atmopshere was nice, very bright. We sat downstairs at one of the two tall communal tables. Our order: a bowl of basics consisting of brown rice, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies, a special of the week which was pistachio crusted tofu over greens and sweet mashed potatoes, a salad of the week which had tempeh strips, a chocolate-strawberry shake, a decaf latte, and a peanut butter-berry cake.

Pros: interesting specials * food tasted good * beautiful sweets case
Cons: kinda expensive * *

Review: Came here with 2 friends for dinner during the first week of opening, June 08. From the outside, the cafe looked bright and pleasantly decorated in yellow and simple pine furniture. Inside is an impressive glass case display of beautiful cakes, cookies, chocolate truffles, and desserts. Seating is provided on 2 floors.

We were seated upstairs where there was waitstaff service - whereas downstairs is counter service only. It didn't matter to us. The menu is the same - consisting of fresh juices, smoothies, coffee beverages, baked goods and desserts, and cold appetizers. No hot food. Well, a few hot food items from the usual Real Food Daily menu is only available as take-out (no eat-in), or you can go next door to the restaurant. We opted to stay and try the appetizer plates and eat them as main meal since we weren't very hungry anyway.

We shared: the sampler plate which came with 3 pate dips surrounded by a few breads and veggies ($14), nori maki rolls filled with brown rice, tempeh, and carrot ($11), a luau cake of pineapple-vanilla-coconut flavor ($6.75), a decaf latte with soy milk ($4), and a chocolate strawberry shake ($6.25).

The cake slice was very moist and good and very sweet. The drinks were delightful.

The appetizers, however, were just okay / average. For the sampler plate 3 dips we chose the lentil-walnut pate, white bean artichoke dip, and the herb pecan tofu cheese. The first dip was very tasty, but the other two were more salty than tasty. The dips tasted cold and there were not enough veggie sticks to eat with them. The nori maki looked nice but was very cold like they were just taken out of a refrigerator. Taste was okay and would have been better if served at room temperature and not refrigerator temperature.

Overall, we had a fairly pleasant experience. Our waiter was gracious and attentive. I personally would return for the sweets and the drinks but not for the appetizers.

Pros: vegan desserts * nice ambiance * prompt service
Cons: refrigerated cold food * gets pricey *

Review: I just got back from RFD. This is directly next door, but because of the offices above they couldn't connect them so its basically a slimmed down take out version like Native Foods had to do, too. The funny thing is that both had hosts standing outside which was super confusing! The Cafe has a super LITE menu. Some appetizers, etc. SMALL. So the basics is that when their restaurant is packed next door you hop in the cafe and get a drink while waiting... BUT you can NOT take your drink back next door! Damn city! So we downed our beers and had no problem, but these people next to us at the community table had huge coffees and desserts and as soon as they came out the host next door was like "your table is ready!" doh! SO watch what you order if you use it as a place to wait!!! Stick to beer IMO. I really can't see it functioning like they had it today much longer seems like a waste of space, but a great place to go for vegan dessert if you just hadn't eaten next door! lol
