Review: We've only been to the Culver City location a couple of times, but it seems just like the Melrose location, but somewhat bigger. Much easier to find a place to sit. I love their sandwiches, the soba noodle salad and their desserts. Their desserts are more European style (less sugary).
Pros: tasty and fresh * desserts * sandwiches
Cons: * * |

Review: The best reason to go here is the awesome bbq "pork" sandwich from homemade seitan. It comes with grilled onions, pickles and coleslaw on the sandwich. Simply amazing!
Desserts go from great (chocolate tart) to fair (cookies) but are all macrobiotic and worth a try. (They all look impressive)
Best place for a non-soy bbq porky sandwich!
Pros: BBQ Porky Seitan Sandwich * Vegan items * Desserts
Cons: Pricey * hard seats * serves fish |

Review: I had the BLT sandwich from the deli case at this location and I thought it was very good. The location was very nice and clean looking and as I was told, their cooked sandwiches are very good [I haven't had one here yet]. I also had their deserts at their other location and found them to be very good. I will say this place is expensive, but that's coming from someone who lives in the Midwest. I look forward to eating here again someday. ;)

Review: I would rate M. Cafe 4 1/2 stars. I've eaten at both the Melrose and Culver City locations, and found the food to be consistent and equally tasty in both locations.
Probably my favorite thing to eat at M. Cafe is dessert -- the chocolate sacher torte to be specific. It's very chocolatey and has a fresh raspberry filling. Other foods I have enjoyed at M. Cafe include all three of the paninis, the melorse avenue muffaletta, the wasabi sweet potato salad, the sesame soba noodles, and the shiitake-avocado sushi roll. I was less keen on the squash soup and the banana millefeuille, but even these were not bad. For LA, the place isn't too expensive, so I recommend it pretty highly.
Pros: friendly staff * great desserts * tasty food
Cons: shared seating * slightly pricey * |

Review: Very excited for this very veggie-friendly place in Culver City. Thanks, Happy Cow. I can now get my MCafe without having to drive to Melrose Ave. I brought my sister and 2 friends with me a couple days ago, on a Saturday, and it was not busy. All but one dish we got impressed us. Very yummy sushi rolls, hearty breakfast enchilada, deliciou hot pressed panini sandwiche with grilled veggies and tofu pesto inside, and a creamy carrot cake. The only slight disappointment was the breakfast french toast - they use a dense nut n' berry bread to make it, so it was not as soft and fluffy as we had expected... but it tasted okay and healthy.
Pros: mostly vegan * large selection of food * friendly & prompt service
Cons: * * |

Review: I'm so happy about this new location. I talked to some people there and they are centralizing some of their food prep there. They are expecting it to be the #1 MCafe. There's tons of parking, just go around back, you'll see the lots and you can walk down the alley and their's a back door, too. The outside seating is open but the traffic gets loud there, too. I highly recommend breakfast! Their tofu scramble is hard to top. The big marco and any of their sides salads are always a hit. The desserts aren't so sweet because they don't use regular sugar, so be prepared, but they are still very good and I assume a lesser evil!
Pros: Desserts * Tofu Scramble * Better Parking
Cons: not as intimate * * |

Review: Was here in May 08. My husband and I came here on a weekday for lunch, and the cafe was totally packed with a local business lunch crowd from near by downtown establishments (like Sony studio, etc.). The interior acoustic was poor, so the overwhelming noise detracted from our dining experience.
The set up of this M Cafe is very similiar to the one on Melrose Ave, except this one has much more seating. Many of the food items are attractively displayed in a large glass case, so guests can drool over the choices.
The Food: We ordered a seitan katsu bowl (pretty good but small portion, $12), a barbeque seitan sandwich (so-so taste and messy, $11-12) which came with a side of choice and we got the sweet potato salad (tasty and filling), a small order of french fries with housemade tomato sauce (lukewarm but very delicious, $3), a chocolate chip cookie (yum, $2), and a chocolate cupcake with frosting (cake good but frosting salty, $2.75).
Overall, the feel of the cafe is very chic and interesting. Except for the deafening noise from the lunch crowd, I enjoyed eating here and would recommend it to anyone when in Culver City.
Pros: many choices * good food * prompt service
Cons: poor sound acoustic * not cheap * |
