Review: Went there after half a day walking along the freedom trail. I love vegan food, I love raw food but man, being served a cold soup for so much money was such a disappointment. Hopefully, I know some raw foodists who served me yummy raw plant-based meals that tasted a thousand times better than what they serve in this trendy place. Everything we had was awful.
Pros: Quiet * *
Cons: Untasty * Cold * Expensive |

Review: I took my husband to Grezzo for his birthday and we had a three course lunch that was out of this world. I had never been to a raw food restaurant and the whole experience was wonderful. The food was really tasty and beautifully presented. I would recommend this restaurant anyone who appreciates fine, tasty and creatively prepared food.
Pros: Tasty * Creative * Warm atmosphere
Cons: Pricey * * |

Review: Sigh...my sweet sister meant well, but this experience was a disappointment. As a vegan, I can appreciate the whole raw food thing, but I just can't get into it. Nice waitresses, pretty ambience, darling location, but what a disappointment. My sister sampled the small dish of "welcome appetizer", thinking she was eating just flower petals, until she spit out a rock. Uh, it wasn't an appetizer, but a pretty table decoration. She went outside to spit, to try to get rid of the taste. Poor thing. I gave her a mint to try to re-calibrate her taste buds. When we mentioned this to our waitress, her comment was, "Yeah, other people have done the same thing". Duh? Then don't serve it as a "snack", it could have meant a broken tooth!! We shared the cold soup, the sliders, and the gnocchi, and we really wanted to find something tasty, but we couldn't. We'd look at each other to get a nod of appreciation, but none were forthcoming. We should have had a vegetarian meal in the surrounding Italian restaurant of the North end of Boston. Our dessert was a cookie from the Italian bakery across the street.
Pros: Nice, friendly staff * Pretty ambience * Other good restaurants nearby
Cons: Rocks served as a trick!! * Tasteless, but nicely presented food * thank God we didn't have the Chef Plate! |

Review: I visited Grezzo for lunch with a coeliac friend - finding places that suit both of us is not the easiest of tasks, and we both like to eat raw on occasion. We knew in advance that it was not cheap, too. Her partner came along too.
The staff seemed friendly, if a little evangelical about the raw food cause. They were aware of some of the issues that coeliacs face, and did their best to ensure my friend got suitable food. They got it wrong with oats, in an item which could be passed to the others, but the medical profession can't agree on that, either, and they listened intently to my friend's explanation, giving the impression that they were taking her comments on board.
Anyway, the food. I had the Kelp and Wild Mushroom Bistro Burger, as did F. Her partner had the sliders, and we shared a salad between us, just in case we didn't get quite enough vegetables! The burger came with dehydrated sweet potato, and guacamole; the sliders with pickles and dehydrated potato chips. The chips were a little bland, but made with a flavoursome heritage potato would make an excellent alternative to greasy crisps. They might have persuaded me to invest in a dehydrator.
And then we did dessert. I never get dessert, so this was a thrill. There was no way I was passing over "Brownie Sundae - house-made gelato, raw fudge brownie and chocolate sauce", and it was one of the most fantastic things I have ever eaten. Someone else had the Apple Pave, which was good but not as exciting as the chocolate.
There were steps at the entrance, and the toilets are located through the kitchen, up more steps, so this location is not good for people with mobility issues.
Pros: good for coeliacs * vegan desserts! * delectable food
Cons: expensive * over-evangelical * loo located on Mars |

Review: To my great joy, Grezzo has started shipping their ice creams and cheeses! I got my first shipment this morning, which was composed of three pints of ice cream (Vanilla Chip, Mocha Brownie and the new Mint Chocolate Chunk) and a coupla cheeses (Herb & Garlic Boursin and Miso Cashew), and they came on time and in great condition. While the ice cream is sure to go quick (I have an insatiable sweet tooth, and it's just really hard to say no to such saccharine goodies), the cheeses I'll make stretch. They're like any good cheese, too rich to eat too quickly.
If you can't make it into the restaurant, I heartily recommend eating Grezzo in the comfort of your living room and loafers. They've got all the info up on their site, www.grezzorestaurant.com, or you can call them. Their customer service lady is super nice and she'll guide you through your order if you, like me, don't really know what you're doing.
Pros: ships to your home * lots of options * arrives promptly and still frozen
Cons: kind of expensive * * |

Review: Last weekend, I visited Grezzo with friends from out of town. This was my intro to raw food and it was great in many ways. We mainly opted for the sampler menu - many courses, small portions - and were delighted by how much food apppeared. The quality seemed excellent (although, ofc ourse, I have nothing to guage it against!) and the staff were superbly knowledgable, friendly and helpful. The plates looked like mini works of art and often it seemed a shame to eat them.
On this occasion, the chef's taster menu included soups - Mushroom Tea, Thai Hot and Spicy Coconut - appetizers - Grezzo Sliders, Pickled Asparagus Salad, Gnocchi carbonara - salads, and entrees - Tomato Ravioli, Land and Sea, and Lobster Mushroom Fettucini.
The ravioli was nice but way too simple to be a good menu choice. The Land and Sea was a complex dish, artfully presented and delicious, and my husband - initially the most skeptical of our group - particularly liked his entree: the lobster mushroom fettucini which was finished with a saffron 'cream' sauce.
The desserts were wonderful and really, if we have the chance to go again, I think I'll be tempted to skip straight to them! I had the choc brownie sundae with home-made gelato and ultimately had to share with everyone - it was soooo good! The rest of the party opted for the Mexican Chocolate Torte which was good, but heavy on the hot pepper!
Of the experience in general, my husband made an intriguing observation: with raw food, there is little smell. Since smelling the food is part and parcel of enjoying its taste, I guess this was the only thing that counted against it. Of course that's not a critique of Grezzo as much as of the genre of food.
The venue itself is ridiculously small: 'cozy' is an desperate understatement. The few tables really are crowded together and the plush overstuffed dining chairs are a luxury the space cannot really afford.
Overall, it was an excellent intro to raw food and, if you are interesting in dipping your toes in that particular pond, Grezzo is a great place to do it!
Pros: superbly helpful and friendly staff * artisitc food preparation * healthy cuisine
Cons: very small space * restrooms through the kitchen * |

Review: I've been to Grezzo twice and have had a uniformly excellent experience. It's very small and you often have to wait (my advice: skip lunch and go at 5 pm). They've upgraded their cocktail and wine selections, and they've got some good stuff now. I did the 'chef's tasting' both times, and everything was wonderful. The standouts: the gnocchi and 'slider' appetizers. An amazing blend of textures and flavors, beautifully presented and nicely explained by the lovely wait staff. I'm vegan, don't eat raw much, but this is well worth the substantial prices.

Cons: * * |

Review: GREZZO
Boston Ma
Went for dinner Saturday night March 1st
The place was rocking!
Seats about 30 or did that night
Alissa Cohen was working hard, greeting serving...
Good energy and cool waitress staff - very nice & helpful.
We did a sample menu each so we tasted everything on the menu minus one main course.
I like everything. Some things I loved. The gnocchi & the mushroom soup were amazing
The ice cream and cooking that came with it were fantastic.
The pictures on the walls were full of life & the kitchen, only know because you walk through it on the way to the bathroom was humming with energy.
Totally needs to be checked out by all raw foodies!
