Review: I really enjoyed my meal at DeliVege. It's not the best vegetarian food I've had in Singapore, but it's a fun place with very nice servers and their menu is so big! It's also a great spot for westerners to get traditional "comfort food" that's all vegetarian (though not necessarily vegan). I highly recommend a visit.
Pros: good food * extremely varied menu * nice people
Cons: some items taste very similar * not a lot of spice * |

Review: I visited Singapore for a few days in September 2008. One highlight of the trip is the Deli Vege restaurant, where I went
for dinner on all three nights I was in town. It's in Chinatown,
about a mile from my hotel. This is not all-vegan, and the serving
staff are occasionally confused by English, so ask clearly whether a
particular dish includes eggs or milk. Most don't. The first night I
had something called a DFC, which was a classic Western "fried
chicken" dish with slaw and fries. Great stuff, though a little too
fried for my taste. It was a recommendation by the wait staff,
evidently quite popular there. I saw some Chinese-appearing patrons at
the next table ordering the same thing. Monday night I had vegetable
tempura and a rice clay pot. Tuesday night I had sushi and braised
tofu. Good stuff all-around. I added a green salad all three nights, and tried some soups. The menu is astounding: lots of dishes
from Western, Chinese and Japanese heritage. Good clean decor, and
inspiring pro-vegetarian quotes on the walls & menus. Almost no vegan desserts, though. Highly
recommended.
Pros: Variety * Decor *
Cons: Dairy * * |

Review: Not many vegetarian restaurants in Singapore that serve as wide a variety of food as Deli-Vege. Great food spanning Chinese, Japanese, local Singaporean (laksa, char kuay teow, chicken rice), and Western.
Especially liked their specialty - vegetarian claypot rice. Don't think I've ever found a vegetarian version elsewhere.
Nice decor, but the service staff seemed overwhelmed -- their description of "Olive tofu" was completely different from what came out (soft tofu in a gravy that looked more like seaweed base than olives).
Parking in the Chinatown area is always a problem, but the food is worth the trouble.
If you're vegan be sure to check which dishes have no milk. Their menu excludes eggs.
Pros: Good food * Great variety * Affordable pricing
Cons: Limited parking in the area * Overwhelmed Service staff * |
