Review: Friendly staff, always yummy food and a huge selection. I've never found this restraunt overly busy, and the service is always prompt. Reasonable prices. Decor could use an update but otherwise a nice little place.

Pros: friendly * good selection * tasty
Cons: location * decor *

Review: Very courteous staff, some really good mock meats. Boyfriend and I shared the combination for two, and while some of the portions were small, others were larger and made up for it. Very fast service (we were the only table there)... definitely will go again (though I think I may prefer Padmanadi a little more...)

Pros: great veggie food * fast service * nice staff
Cons: noodle were a little greasy * *

Review: I've been to this restaurant twice, both times with non- vegetarians. We all really enjoyed the food there. Both times we were the only customers, so obviously service was fairly quick. We ordered one of their meals for two. My favourite so far is the lemon chicken. The portions do appear to be a bit on the small side, but we actually had leftovers to take home with us.

Pros: Not busy * quick service * lots to choose from
Cons: * *

Review: we read good reviews for this restaurant, not only from happycow but from other local reviews. the restaurant does not seem very popular. we went in at 5.30p on a saturday, and we were the only table. the service was courteous. we ordered two mock meat dishes. they were good, but nothing special, as good mock meat has become a standard for chinese vegetarian restaurants in north america in recent years. it is how it is prepared that sets restaurants apart. we found the portions were small for the price as well.

Pros: good mock meat * *
Cons: small portions * *

Review: Unlike many other veg places, they do not put whether they uses MSG on their menu. We did ask, but the answer wasn't clear. So, do remember to confirm with them! We followed the above suggestions, and tried the potato prawns (6 thin leaves of wheat stuffed with mashed potato, and the dip seems to be vinegar and thai style- small portion). It was O.K. but we wouldn't call it a must-get. The lamb curry (potato, curry, mock lamb, carrot, ... .) was good. The beef hot pot (no idea if it is the peking beef hot pot) was thin slices of dried tofu leaves (this ones were dark brown in colour), lots of cabbages, and some mushroom, and maybe few other ingridients- in what looks like tomato sauce. Our suggestion is: try out their other entries! Leave out the potato prawns and beef hotpot! You may find something more exiting, :D! We wished we had more time in Edmonton and could again ate at the OVH. Their new entries (such as roasted duck and fried chicken) sound yummy. We spent 24.22 CND , apart from the gratuity. Worth a try, when you are not on a tight budget.

Cons: Uses MSG? * No ingridients in the menu? *

Review: I love the Oriental Veggie House as do the meat-eating members of my family even though no meat is served there. The most difficult part is deciding what to order, there are so many choices. I have liked everything so far.

Review: This is actually my favourite restaurant in the world! When I come back to edmonton I eat here every day.

The food is delicious, the service is wonderful, the prices are great for the portion size.

Some notes on the dishes: Try sweet and sour tofu, bean curd in bean paste, and peking veggie beef hot-pot. The curried lamb hotpot tastes so much like lamb I can't eat it (I grew up on a sheep ranch, ick lamb). Seafood lovers will really like the seafood hotpot. The sweet and sour pork is very good but not the best thing on the menu. Don't order the chicken balls... non-vegetarians always do even when I tell them not to, it is just not the best dish there.

Potato prawns for an appetizer are a must!

Pros: delicious * good value * wonderful service
