Review: Since 5 years I have been going to Buddha's Veggie. By the time passing the food is less in quantity and quality, and more expensive. And they want you to pay and go out fast. Now the worst: Once I went there with my girlfriend; as my order was low of $30.00 We were asked to take it out!!!!!! That was my last time there and I will not go there anymore!!!!
Pros: Veggie * good *
Cons: Less than before * Expensive than before * Greedy service |

Review: i'm from switzerland and we don't have anything like that there! before i came to calgary i checked out the vegan places here. when i saw the menu from buddha's veggie i nearly got a heart attack. a holiday to paradise of choice!!!!
so yesterday i went there with my friend and we ordered 6 or 7 different meals for dinner. i knew in advance that we wont be able to eat them all but i just don't know if i ever come to calgary. the waitresses were very friendly and helpful with what to order on the menu if there was no picture of it. just to know what we'll order. the sizes are really good for the price. we didn't have to wait long for the food. the atmosphere was very positive. they packed all the rest for us to take it home.i hope i'll get there another time during this holiday. i already marked the next meals i'll order ;)
Pros: all vegan * taste * options/choices
Cons: * * |

Review: We were not having the best time in Calgary, and headed to this restaurant after a long, hot, tiring day. I was a little apprehensive when we arrived - situated on a busy road, opposite a huge mall, it didn't look too appealing from the outside. But when we went inside, it was large, airy and very pleasant. And then I saw the menu! It doesn't usually take me very long to decide on a meal, but the choice here was amazing. All kinds of dishes, including noodles, rice, veggies, tofu and what semmed like a zillion faux meats!
I finally settled on veggie Won Ton soup and Veggie Beef with Broccoli in Black Bean Sauce whilst my partner had Golden Fried Dumplings and Pepper & Candied Veggie Steak. The food was delicious, really tasty, but I must admit we seriously struggled with the huge portions. They are not for the feint-hearted! We were so impressed with the choice available that we took a take-away menu to show our friends back home.
The staff were nice enough - pleasant, polite, and not too overbearing.
I doubt we will ever return to Calgary, but if we did, we would definitely eat here agin.
Pros: Great choice * Tasty food * Good value for money
Cons: Location * * |

Review: If you've been to China/Taiwan as a vegetarian, maybe this food will be delightful and reminiscent of your time there. Or maybe your looking to have a meal all fried or deep fried-still calling it vegetarian/vegan. This is not a healthy variety of food at reasonable cost place.
Pros: large tables * friendly staff * chopsticks!
Cons: closed 3-5? * too greasy * expensive |

Review: I ate there a few weeks ago while in Calgary. My wife and I got the Mixed Vegetables Wonton Soup, Sweer and Sour Veggie Pork, and some other veggie dish. The soup was a meal in itself. The "veggie pork" was awesome. Next time I'm there I would get the veggie ribs in orange sauce. I couldn't decide between the two dishes that night, both were recommended by the waitress. I eventually froze up and in my indecision deferred the decision to the waitress. She chose the veggie pork.
The restaurant is several miles away from the city center. We drove and there was a parking lot. I presume there is a good way to get there by mass transit. The place itself is very nice and comfortable.
The food seemed kind of expensive compared to similar places. But the portions were large and my wife and I got 2 dishes and the soup and wound up with a lot of leftovers. On top of an expensive dish was also an extra charge for the rice. In NYC where I am from rice always comes with the dish no matter what the price. The menu and prices are online so you can make sure your cool with it before you go if that's a factor.
Overall the place was really good, definitely recommended.
Pros: Good food * Decent ambiance * Pricey
Cons: Not near city center * * |

Review: My husband and I recently moved to Calgary and I had heard this was a great vegan restaurant in town. It did not disappoint. The service was fine - not overly friendly, but not unfriendly either. We ordered the ginger beef based on recommendations from this site, and liked it, but the kung pao chicken entree and chicken ball appetizer were much better. If you have room, try the tofulatti deep friend ice cream dessert - amazing! Portions are huge - no need to order too many dishes - we ordered two appetizers and two entrees, and brought half of everything home. We'll definately go back again!
Pros: good value * excellent food *
Cons: * * |

Review: The food is delicious but loaded with calories -go to enjoy not to get healthy. Mapo Tofu is the best you'll have enough for two people and leftovers for two people as well. I found the place refreshing in atmosphere and the people are not unfriendly at all! The "meat" is different mostly Gluten I would guess, but it's tasty. So many choices. Go there and enjoy!!!
Pros: huge portions for tomorrow too * no msg * no trans fats
Cons: not for a weight loss diet! * * |

Review: It's not just the amazing cooking, it's also the wonderful family that owns and runs this restaurant. They used to own a little place in China Town, and it amazes me that they have done so well in Calgary. You must go to this place - veggie or not.
Pros: excellent food * amazing service * atmosphere
Cons: price * * |

Review: One of my favourite places to go. There are so many options to choose from and I think they all taste good. I've found the staff to be pleasant, not friendly, but okay. I agree that portions could be smaller.
Pros: ALL vegan * No MSG * Delicious
Cons: Pricey * Portionns too big * |

Review: I agree with one of the above posts about how utterly inconsiderate the servers can be. You have to realise me and my friends would go in at least twice a week. (a group of usually six ppl) Thats how much we enjoyed the food. However after a few bad experiences we stopped going completely. One incident my friend asked if they wanted to donate to a charity they agreed and asked him to come back on a certain day. When he came to collect the head lady saw him and quickly said we are closed. When he replied "I'm just here for that charity" she said "I don't know what your talking about I never agreed to any charity". The amount was ten dollars. This other time I came in with my mother who asked for tea. They brought out that buddist tea my mom wanted the regular tea so i politely asked if they have regular english tea to which the reply was "this is a chinese resteraunt what did you expect". I almost lost it but we decided to just take our food (which was already made) to go. After that we have boycotted the place and I will never come back unless they change the people serving and running the restaurant. Oh I don't miss the food at all.
Pros: * *
Cons: * * |

• The people are not inconsiderate. English in not their first language. So what you had was lost in communication issues. The ladies working out front are fantastic girls, and the people working in the back are always more then happy when they come out.
An off day on their part is no reason to boycott.
And if you were willing to go at least twice a week, the place deserves more then that.. response by LexiFatale
• Come on - this is a rant not a review - cool down & have the decency to delete it / rewrite it - I am pretty sure that they will not miss you either!. response by JohnnySensible
