Review: The food is great, the space looks very clean and all. Totally recomend it..
Ah, and they are very nice.
The only problem is that it isn't 100% vegan, the vitamins have honey on it.
Pros: location * options *
Cons: expensive * not vegan * |

Review: It's a little out of the way, but their food makes up for it in bunches. There is a strong emphasis on raw food, but there are some cooked food options meaning the waitress wasn't the only hot dish in the place (thanks, I've been working on that line for a while now). They also have an English menu for those of us who aren't as Spanishly fluent as we'd like to be. I had the raw ravioli and I can honestly say that it was the best raw meal I've ever had - I felt like the King of the World after eating here.
Pros: food * food presentation * friendly staff
Cons: location * * |

Review: If you're a wandering veg in Buenos Aires, you'll be smart to check this place out, even if just to prove to your friends back home that we really do get to feast all over the globe. This is your place if you like thoughtful, well-presented raw vegan grub. VL is just like Cafe Gratitude in San Francisco/Berkeley (minus the adorable, tattooed queer girls interrupting my date to ask "Are you Plentiful?") Think salads, pasta-less "lasagna" made from squash, cashew "cheese" spreads, etc. The open kitchen is itself alive with the sounds of blenders whirring wheat grass and fruit-veg juices, knives dicing up fresh vegetables and the hum of the dehydraters making perfectly crisp crackers. The one catch to this place, though, is that they have tons of much tastier-looking, cooked fare (think hearty, crusty bread, gooey, wholesome desserts) that's nearly vegan but contains HONEY. It's really frustrating, actually, cos most of these could be easily made animal-product free if the chefs (who aren't even veg) actually thought it was important--so next time you're there, maybe ask about it!! Who knows--maybe one day they'll start making their non-raw offerings bread, main dishes, baked goods, and desserts, and turn the place into what it nearly is--a true vegan gourmet haven both native portenos and foreign travelers can call their home.
Pros: excellent raw food * has organic * smoothies/juices/shakes!
Cons: many many dishes have honey * kind of pricey * |

Review: This atmosphere is great, the people are nice, the owner is available and friendly and the food is beautifully presented. I had the tierra y mar salad, which didn't seem to have a dressing on it but the sprouts and nuts made it tasty. They have a menu del dia that's $20pesos and included a watery tasting Orange juice and a main dish of the day (that day it was a stuffed tomato, which was DELICIOUS). We also tried the Tercer Ojo drink (blueberry and wheatgrass) which was AMAZING, and the nut milk licuado (the first one on the menu, don't remember the name) that was also delicious. The classic lemonade (electrificante?) was good, but I liked the other drinks. The cheesecake is yummy and creative, but the portion is TINY...you're better off ordering another drink. They have spirulina, maca, goji berries etc for the drinks. My favorite food in BA by far.
Pros: smoothies * tasty * beautiful food
Cons: expensive * location * no credit cards |
