Review: This place is definitely worth checking out, especially if you are traveling solo and want to try out a bunch of different dishes.

As others have explained, it's a buffet and you pay by weight. I got a thanksgiving dinner sized plate of food (AKA HUGE) and it cost $80 HK. But it comes with all you can eat rice, congee, soup and dessert soup.

The vibe is great in here and seemed very popular with locals who were getting off of work.

The food itself had some great mock meat dishes, such as the gingery fish with bok choy and the chicken cutlets in a light curry sauce. The sauteed greens were a little overcooked, but this is my only complaint!

All in all, this place is perfect if you are starving and want to fill up on fresh, reliable veggie food.

One last thing. The hours are a bit weird. It's only open from 12-3 PM and then again from 6-9 PM.

Review: Very nice restaurant! Been here a few times now. Good concept where you pick your dishes from a buffet and you pay per 100 grams (currently HKD 15) so an average plate will go for about $40-$60. They also have some soup/noodle dishes, one of them is Bak-Kut-Teh (herbal noodle soup - Yummy !)
Definitely worth visiting if you're in Sheung Wan neighbourhood.

Review: Harvester is the best restaurant that I have been to in Hong Kong from the HappyCow listings.

Lots of veggies - good rice / mixed grains.

Great value - tasty food - clean & tidy.

From today onwards you will often find me in Harvester!

The staff speak good English.

One dish had eggs today so ask & be careful.

Review: How it works: (very well actually!) ...grab a plate and help yourself to some food from the buffet. It is $15/100g (approx $2.50 Australian/100g), with a minimum charge of $28 (about $5AUD). I had a lightly covered (ie not stacked up, but covered) plate and it came to $54 ....but wait! Theres more.... The real bargain to the whole thing is that lovely 5 grain rice, clear soup, tea and congee are all FREE on top of that!

And its nice to sit in and friendly too.

Location: On the right hand side towards the end of New Market Street to the left of the very easy to spot "Western Market" building. It has street frontage and you should have no problems seeing its large sign. (Free Hotel Map grid square 46B). It is easy to walk to from the Hong Kong Airport Express Station. (Des Voeux Road leads straight to it)

Pros: eat little or lots * five grains rice is so yummy! *

Review: A great little restaurant business - a "unique for Hong Kong" menu - Cantonese classics / some raw dishes / increasing amounts of sprouts / wheatgrass juice deserts. Very good value lunch & evening buffets - for savory dishes you pay by weight - the red rice / brown rice / congee / soups / a herbal drink are "gratis". Conceived of & run by Howard - a "herbal tea alchemist" & Tai Chi teacher whose speciality is helping stroke victims to regain their mobility. Just a few metres away from the old "Western Market" building. This is Hong Kong - they will be copied! Organic packaged food & teas also available. I give them a "5" as they are doing a great job & are happy, friendly people!
