OK but not sure what the big deal is
Posted on 01 / 29 / 2013Although I have to admit I go here every time I'm in Sydney (because it has vegan options and I like Glebe), I never quite understand why there is always a crowd with people spilling out into the tables on the street. I mean, the place isn't terrible, but just doesn't live up to its popularity for me. I was last there on 27/01/2013 and I pretty much had the same type of experience as on previous visits. The decor and booth seating in the front part are nice, but we missed out on this occasion and sat out the back. I usually struggle to find something I want from the vegan options and on this occasion had the field mushrooms on toast (as only the breakfast menu as available at 11.30am on Sunday and I couldn't have a falafel burger). This was OK, except that it came with only one slice of toast, which was not proportionate to the (decent) amount of mushroom, but it was under $10. The dish was marked vegan on the menu but it was accompanied by a package of butter, which I returned and was offered no alternative, meaning dry toast. My partner and I shared a vegan fudge brownie afterwards, which was rich and delicious, but it would be nice if a few more of their vast selection of cakes were vegan, as this was the only one. I will probably come back again, partly because I know I can get vegan food here and partly out of habit.
Pros: Pleasant decor and environment, Buzzing and socialCons: Sometimes crowded
Hi Thelink, I liked your review. I love to go to these breakfast places, but having no vegan cakes is a shame.
