Review: I love this place! There are so many choices. The repeats I've had have been consistant, tofu scramble, fried won ton. The sushi is good, the roasted veggie 'garden burger' the salads. They have fresh young coconuts to drink/eat. The only soso items I've had are the lentil quesadilla and tofu burger, kind of bland. The thai stuff is good and the soups. Cool decor, nice staff, decent prices. I wish I lived closer I'd go more often.
Pros: Big selection * Cool Decor * Friendly
Cons: It's in PB * Not open early enough * |

Review: My favorite is the vegetable soup. The veggies taste so crisp and fresh. The wontons, dumplings and chow mein were also to die for! It's my first choice out of all restaurants in San Diego. Parking isn't bad, since it's the beach people are leaving all the time, you just have to wait a couple of minutes and before you know it you'll see someone waking to their car, I've always found a spot. I just wish they had longer hours. I went there hoping to get breakfast once at around 10am and the signs says they don't open till 11.30, another time I went for dinner and they were already closed.
Pros: Tasty Delicious Food * Very Clean * Extremely Fresh Food
Cons: Place is small * Hours are too short * |

Review: I have only eaten here once, got the 'chicken' and pancakes. Looked great, tasted great, priced great. Looking forward to trying more of the menu! Yes, the parking sucks but so does parking anywhere in San Diego...I'd rather try to find/ pay for parking for Vegan food than drive thru death-in-a-box!
Pros: taste * choice * price
Cons: parking * no cake? * |

Review: We love this place. We used to go to Sipz Cafe a lot in the past... until this place opened up. friends and family of ours frequent this place... and everything on the menu is awesome. its more intimate and nicer than Sipz which we like. Im not dogging sipz though....its great. but The vegan zone is our JAM! And everyone should check it out!
- I read that someone mentioned the parking "problem" but there is a small lot that you can get a validation ticket from Vegan Zone for. also there are parking lots across the street for like a dollar. Worth it.-
Pros: awesome food * great service * decor/ local art.
Cons: * * |

Review: My husband and I came to PB for our honeymoon and were so excited that this place was in walking distance from our hotel. We went twice while we were staying in San Diego. The waffles were incredible with fresh blueberries! The mock-meats were perfectly spiced! I loved the laid back atmosphere and quiet service. This is a great place!
Pros: Quiet * Huge Selection *

Review: I don't have anything good to say about this place, because we drove around for an hour trying to find parking. Maybe we will try again in the winter, when its raining...maybe then we will find some parking!

Cons: horrid parking * horrid location * |

• But how is the FOOD? I don't think the parking situation warrants a bad review of a restaurant.. response by tonileigh
• Please remember that it's San Diego, it's VERY expensive to lease space and honestly, I don't think this place gets enough business to open a bigger shop in a different location in SD. The parking situation is not their fault, it is the city's. Posting a negative review on the place strictly based on something that is not their fault isn't right. Review: best vegan restaurant in san diego, hands down. tropical pancakes, katsu bowl, spring rolls, and wraps are to die for. only downside for the tofu scrambles are they are pre mixed, so if you don't like one of the veggies in it, they cannot take it out (i hate cilantro, and its pre mixed in). Good sorbet desserts but wish they had a cake or soy cream option. its randomly located is dude guy central in pacific beach, but they have a parking lot that is really close to the entrance so you dont have to walk far. nice atmosphere, elegant decor, and the staff is super nice.
Pros: amazing food * parking even though its a beach location * nice staff
Cons: located in pb * no cake or soy ice cream desserts * |

Review: I am so jealous that this place is in walking distance to my brother's house (and he's a meat-eater!)
The restaurant is very cute and nicely decorated. The servers were very friendly and the food arrived fast. We ordered the Papaya Salad which has amazing flavour but is rather spicy so if you don't handle spicy well you might be able to request it be toned down. If you love spicy you'll love that salad. The flavour was so good that my sister & I had trouble giving up on eating it but we're wimps with spicy food so we finally gave up when our mouths lit on fire! :) The menu does not indicate what is spicy or not so you'll want to ask if you're concerned about it. I ordered the Chow Mien which was very good and far milder than the previous salad. The fake chicken was a little bland on flavour but I kind of enjoyed that, and the noodles were very yummy. My sister had the P.E.T.A Plate which has pumpkin in it. I tasted it and it was delicious! The flavours are really amazing. She cleaned her plate! I had a smoothie with banana added and it was very good, and we both had Thai Iced Tea which was strong & sweet & yummy. We were too full to eat dessert although they do have a few on the menu! This place was very nice, the prices are good and I'm thrilled there is finally a great vegan restaurant in San Diego! It's about time.
Pros: Flavours are Amazing! * Prices good * Location
Cons: I don't live closer! * No spicy or non-spicy indicators on menu * |

Review: I've only been here once and I'm already looking forward to going back! The prices are VERY reasonable, especially compared to a lot of the good restaurants in San Diego. I tried the Tom Kha soup (substituted the mushrooms for broccoli, as recommended by a friend). It was the first time I had tasted a soup made with coconut milk. It was different and delicious! My boyfriend and I also shared the pineapple burger with fries. I found the entire burger to be great, especially the "chicken" patty. It didn't have much pineapple at all, so I suggest adding extra to the order. Map the place out before you go, it's a little hidden (and the writing on the outside is hard to read). I went during the week and parking wasn't bad. There is $3 parking across the street (0-2 hours) if nothing on the street is available. Note that the store closes between 3 and 4 for the workers can take a break. I highly recommend this place. I plan on moving to San Diego in the fall, hopefully then I can visit more often. I think Vegan Zone stands out above the rest of the vegan places I've visited because the food isn't "weird" to omnivores. While they do use fake meats, they aren't weird in texture (I've had my fair share of bad veggie food). Also, our waitress was very very friendly! Check out their site for coupons.
Pros: Delicious * Great prices! * Variety of foods
Cons: Far from my city * Very limited seating * $1 charge for credit card use |

Review: I've been here about 6-8 times and my expectations have been exceeded all but once. I love just about everything i've ever had here. The curry is fantastic, especially the fruit curry. Their sides are great as wells as their appetizers. The only thing i've had that didn't impress me was the lentil burger. It was kind of bland. Don't pass up their drinks. They have a layered coffee drink that's rich and creamy and fantastic. Also, they have a small staff (I've only seen one lady that ever serves).
Pros: fabulous food * quiet *
Cons: no dessert * pricey * |

Review: I ate here two times and both experiences were pretty good. The menu is extensive and they have vegan seafood which is something I had not seen before. I have had their pepper steak burger and one of their curry dishes. Both were pretty much above average. I especially enjoyed the quesadilla appetizer. They have plenty to choose from and the prices aren't to bad for dinner. I hear the vegan pancakes are great.
Pros: Interesting options * nice environment * healthy
Cons: a little pricey * * |

Review: I have lived in PB now for 10 years, and am so glad to finally see a veg friendly place here. The owners are sooo nice and they are really doing their best. i enjoy going there for lunch or dinner, it has great atmosphere, and the food is very good. the veggies are fresh, and they have been very consistant with the food. i have been there about 8 times and never have they been out of something, nor have i had a bad dish yet. I love also that they have organic food there too. there prices are perfect, you don't need to rob the piggy bank to eat there. It is a great place and I would definitly recommend it to everyone!
Pros: organic and veg * consistent * clean

Review: I can't believe they call themself vegan. :( Please beware. They use fish sauce and has dried shrimp and dried fish in their seasoning. Someone please education them... just because you don't ad the meat itself, it still is not Vegan or Vegetarian if it is in your seasoning. I already mentioned this to the owner.
Pros: another Vegan place * *
Cons: Has animal product * Misrepresentation * |

• this is absolutely not true. vegan zone is 100% vegan!!! anna is one of the owners and very nice, and she also shops in my store i manage also in pb, the buffalo exchange. she is vegan herself and knows what is happening in her kitchen, as it is a family owned business. she is there almost everyday waiting on tables, maybe is was a language barrier issue. they do have "fish" but is is fake vegan fish!. response by cupcakedanielle
• I live in PB where the Vegan Zone is located and have been eating there regularly since they opened. I have come to know one of the owners, Anna, quite well. I heard about this review from someone at a local health food store. After printing it out, I took it in and showed it to the owner. Anna assured me that the entire kitchen was vegan, and that she herself was also vegan. As English is not her first language, I wonder if there was a miscommunication between the reviewer and the owner that resulted in this misrepresentation. Anna also suggested that anyone concerned about the vegan status of this (and other) restaurants check out LivingVegan.org. They apparently ask to inspect the kitchens to verify compliance with vegan restrictions.
I have found the food here to be fresh and fairly priced. Some of my favorite items are the.... response by berrychamp

Review: I was SOOO happy to finally see a veg restaurant in PB and I have NOT been disappointed!!! There is an EXTENSIVE menu, nice atmosphere, good service, and the wine, beer, and sake are a definite plus. They have eat in, take-out, or delivery. Since their opening ~1 month ago, I have eaten at VZ at least 2x/ week! I have tried almost everything on the menu (or at least a bite of someone else's)... So far, the 'pepper steak wrap', the 'crispy wontons', the 'sweet and sour chicken', 'siam steak', and the 'PB pancakes' are my favs!! But everything has been delicious. DEFINITE RECOMMENDATION!!!
