Review: I love this place and I am not a huge fan of Indian food. The lunch buffet is great. There are always lots of veg options and nothing too overly spicy. Many places opt for raw heat over any complexity of flavors. This place shows you can have a bit of heat and still appreciate the blend of spices that make Indian food so unique. Unlike most buffets too even if you go late in the day the food is hot and fresh. There is a saffron pudding that is absolutely worth the trip all by itself. Very close to campus this place is the newest Indian place in town so still a bit undiscovered. There is also another Indian place a block away, but it is no where near as good as this one.
Construction makes it hard to reach this right now. If you stay on euclid/ave of champions like you are going to fazolies you can turn right right behind the strip of businesses and park behind the restaurant. Be careful where you park though because they do tow.
Pros: good buffet * not too spicy *
Cons: parking * * |

Review: We have been going here regularly for the last year and have found the food to be excellent and the service to be very good. There is a wide array of vegetarian dishes -- both entrees and starters -- and the kitchen is very accomodating to vegan requests. The dosas are especially good at dinner time, and the portions are generous. For lunch, there is a buffet with more than half the dishes being vegetarian and of good quality and variety. A family-owned and operated establishment, the Banana Leaf offers some of the best home-cooked Indian food we've ever tried, and its environment is relaxed and welcoming. Minor drawbacks are that the service can be occassionally slow and the TVs that play entertaining bollywood music videos can sometimes be a bit too distracting. Banana Leaf is more than well worth a visit.
