Good wholefood shop

I love their dips and pasties, so many of which are made vegan and are clearly marked on the label. You find their own produce in many local shops in Edinburgh and it's always quality food. You can also get vegan cheeses and other products, although disappointingly they also sell meat and fish.

Good selection

They have a very good selection of ready to eat things that are healthy. Very convenient!
Also, there are many other interesting items that you cannot find in other heath food shops.

Pros: It's nice and cozy
Cons: It's not 100% vegan

Jordan Valley Wholefoods, Edinburgh

I've just been to this place. There is a wide and quite impressive range of vegetarian including vegan products available. The girl who was working there was perfectly pleasant and very helpful and told that on most Tuesdays at 6.30 pm her father (it's a family business) has a tea & tasting event. The place is open decent hours, as late as 8pm.

There's al sorts of things to take away ande cook or to grab to eat on the move if you wish. They have a range of home made products such as sandwiches, savouries & dips. The vegan sandwiches are labelled as such but the vegan friendly labelling has yet to be extended to the dips.

There is one downside to this place and for me at least it's a massive one - it's not 100% vegetarian. There's some fish available on sale and among the interesting choice of sandwiches, there is turkey. What a shame as otherwise this place ticks a lot of boxes and I would give this place a massive wrap.

Pros: vegan veggie friendly, Wide choice & open long hours, Helpful staff
Cons: Not 100% vego

Friendly Place with Great Products

4 Posted on 08 / 31 / 2008

Visited here at the end of the Ediburgh Festival in 2007 and it was still open at 11pm, but this was just becuase the festival was still on. The owner was really proud of his own produce (dips, humous and savoury vegan pasties) and gave us a few samples to try. His Jordan Valley products are actually available in a lot of health food stores around Scotland. There is a huge range of vegan and vegetarian foods and a lot of delcious imported stuff from the Middle East that you would not usually find in other shops.

Pros: huge range of products, own branded products, friendly
Cons: some imported meat products in tins
