Review: i had lunch here which on the sign above the door says "com chay". perhaps i missed the sign that read trinh nguyen. this is not to be mistaken for the other restaurant in the city called com chay as well. the staff was friendly from the start. they helped me sort through the extensive menu which consisted of many mock meat dishes, and dishes with traditional vietnamese, chinese, western, and french influences. i chose a plate set that came with steamed rice, sauteed banana leaves, fish with tomato sauce, and fried chicken made from stacking a bunch of leaves on top of each other, breading and then frying them. it came with tofu soup and i ordered the corn congee for dessert. i thought the food was generally good. but having tried a few other places in hanoi already, it had to conclude that this place wasn't my favorite. the food and 1 bottle of water set me back 90,000 dong. the staff speaks english to an undertstandable level, they're friendly and eager to help.

Pros: filling * friendly * clean
Cons: moderate taste * plain *

Review: This is my favourite restuarant in Hanoi!!! The menu has everything(!) and the service is quick and friendly. Try the set menus, loads to eat, excellent fare and inexpensive. Their speciality has to be the Lunar Buffet lunches, served between 11am and 1pm four times per Lunar calender, beggining on the first day, so check your diary for the next one. There must be around fourty+ dishes and sweets to choose from, very well presented and tasty, and you won't be able to try half of them in one lunch sitting! This place is a must and you're missing out if you don't make it there, they work very hard to please!

Pros: Lunar Buffet Lunch * Extensive menu * Good and Friendly service
Cons: * *

Review: Review: We came here for dinner and were the only ones in the restaurant! (The Vietnamese eat early, so I think we were too later at 7.30pm.) The food was excellent - the eggplant curry and the tofu hotpot were standouts. We were also given complementary starters including fritters (see photo). The staff don't speak much English but you'll get service with a smile and the place looked sanitary. Sadly, we wanted to come here a second time a few days later but got caught in the monsoonal rains. By the time we got to the restaurant at 8.30 or so the cook had left. Another American family were also turned away - luckily I told them to go to another one on the list.

Pros: Nice staff * Clean restaurant * Good value
Cons: Make sure it's open * *

"The Best Veggie Spot in Hanoi!!!"

Review: I have visited almost all vegetarian and vegetarian-friendly restaurants during my 1 1/2 month stay in Hanoi, and Adida is by far the best veggie restaurant in all regards. The food is mighty tasty, with a huge selection of dishes. This place has everything: all types of mock meats, vegetables, noodles, rice, etc. Additionally, the food is always fresh and hot. On the 1st and 15th day of each month on the Lunar calendar, the restaurant offers an amazing buffet. Also, if you RSVP 48 hours in advance, you get 20% off the buffet price- which I think is a fantastic deal.

Furthermore, the service here is the best I have experienced at any eatery in Hanoi and this says a lot I think. Adida is family-operated and the people here are so warm, friendly, and accomodating. Also, it is good to know that the owners of Adida are vegetarians themselves. You can't beat high-quality food and service at affordable/excellent prices.

Adida is fairly new, has been in operation going on 2 years. The clientale is currently mostly locals, but I surely hope travellers get to experience this veggie haven in Hanoi ( unfortunately, a not too veggie-friendly city) as well.

Oh, and make sure to try the fresh and delicious passionfruit juice (nuoc chanh leo) and the watermelon juice (nuoc dua).

Pros: Excellent Food * Warm & friendly staff * Good Value
Cons: Smokers (sometimes) * No A/C, b/ there are fans * Drinks not advertised
