Respond to Review of Green Vegetarian Cuisine - Downtown
Review: I do not review restaurants because we rarely eat out (we are strictly kosher), however, I must write about Green Cuisine restaurant. This lovely, cozy, wonderful, friendly place takes me back to the 1960's and early 70's. These were gentler, more loving, more vegetarian times and the Green has brought all this good stuff back. We are strictly kosher and travel a great deal for business and I must shlep all our food with us, literally, around the world and remote U.S. places. Before we travel anywhere, I do extensive research on kosher food/restaurants available to fulfill our dietary standards/needs. We had a trip scheduled for Austin and San Antonio and I found a goodly kosher stocked H.E.B. Grocery Store, but no restaurant. However, in San Antonio I found THE GREEN!!!!!! Yay!! What a treasure, a gem; delicious, vegan, healthy, and KOSHER! :-D. All our requirements were fulfilled with dining at this delightful place. Staff was quite friendly & helpful and the restaurant itself is cozy, "home-y, and comfortable. The food was TERRIFIC! My husband ordered the portobello "steak" with side dishes of quinoa and broccoli salad. YUMMY! I ordered the eggplant parmesan with pasta with a side dish of refried beans (my tex/mex homage). Now, the dish was quite good with the pasta and sauce being excellent, however, the eggplant part consisted of only 3 very, very thin slices of grilled eggplant. What was there was good, but if the dish is titled EGGPLANT parmesan and not pasta with eggplant, there should have been more eggplant (that's why I only rated 4 cows and not 5 - sorry). I will tell everyone I know about this great place. I only wish we had something like the Green in Maryland, or in any other city we visit. Keep up the good work and dellicious dishes. We wish the owner and staff continued success, growth, and prosperity.
