Respond to Review of Green Vegetarian Cuisine - Downtown
Review: I'm a fairly new vegetarian and I thought this place was very appealing (seeing as it's San Antonio's only 100% Vegetarian restaurant). I appreciate that they use biodegradeable carryout boxes, they are energy-efficient, clean, affordable, and have vegan options on the menu. I had Cece's stirfry- eh, I've had better tofu stir fry at Thai Kitchen. They served it on a bed of brown rice, and it was a very generous portion. I was disappointed to find out that the 'veggie of the day' was pinto beans. Nothing wrong with pinto beans, but come on! We're in San Antonio. Pinto beans are everywhere. How about some variety like steamed asparugus, mashed rutabaga...idk. My omnivorous company had the portobello steak with a side of sweet potato fries. Unfortunately they were soggy. I tried the vegan chocolate cake- again, it wasn't anything spectacular. It was quite dry and the frosting was okay. I had higher expectations after visiting their website. I guess I would go back someday but I'm in no hurry. I'd rather hit up Mela Bar and Grill (Indian food) or Thai Kitchen to get some vegan-friendly yummies.
