Respond to Review of Swadist Restaurant

Review: Dubai is full of these low key, vegetarian Indian restaurants, and Swadist is right in the middle of the pack. It is fully vegetarian, vegans need to be aware of ghee (butter), cream, and cheese being used. The staff wasn't entirely clear when saying what dishes on the (extremely affordable) buffet might have these, so I avoided a couple, and made educated guesses. The lunch buffet is the reason to go here, and you'll see a LOT of local guest workers coming in to shovel it down. Several kinds of bread, four or five entrees, a couple sweet dessert porridge type things. At AED 12 (approximately USD $3.25!) it's a bargain that will fill you up all day. Small take-out operation downstairs, then you go up some stairs to a dozen or so tables in a windowless, mostly charmless space. Lunch buffet is approximately 11am (they uncovered all of the buffet pans for me when I showed up at 11:15) until unknown... The taste was fair to middling: none of the dishes were bad, a few bland. The standout was a hot cabbage dish with vegetables. No bathrooms, just a hand washing sink. This isn't a place to have a fancy dinner out -- it's a serviceable place to get a filling meal. Happycow now has it in more or less the right place: it's on 4C Street, a little south of Kuwait Street. Look for Sunrise Supermarket, walk down that street, it's about six storefronts south of the supermarket, on the left/east side of the street, next to Karama Optic.
