Respond to Review of CLOSED: Cafe Proverbs 15:17
Review: We ate here 2 nights in a row. Everything was terrific, and prices were good. From a large menu, we chose a teriyaki tempeh sandwich, a set Chinese special, the spring rolls, Indonesian goreng (with fake egg that was to die for) and the tofu steaks with miso soup. The tempeh was the best sandwich I've had as a vegan. I have got to figure out how to reproduce it at home. They also offer desserts, smoothies and a terrific homemade ginger ale. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and they speak a good bit of English. They also have English menus on hand. They are really easy to get to if you take a bus instead of the subway. The bus stop is immediately across the street from the restaurant so there's no long hike. Buses in Kyoto announce stations in English, and almost all charge a flat 220 yen (about $2 US) for the trip no matter where you get off. Cafe Proverbs is at the Hyakumanben stop, and you can get there by buses 17, 102, 201, 203 or 206. (see a bus map in English at http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/islandinthepacific/69b2654f.gif). Look for the green and brown 15 17 sign right there on the north west corner of the intersection. Cafe is on the 3rd floor.
