Respond to Review of Taam Hachaim - Taste of Life
Review: Please keep in mind that we are vegetarian not vegan, finding good vegan food (or even vegan food full stop) may be difficult so this place may be heaven for vegans. For us two vegetarians we didn't overly enjoy our time at Taam Hachaim (so far we haven't enjoyed any of the three vegan food places we have visited)..... We visited on a cold January afternoon after another Tel Aviv vegan cafe was closed. We were the only two customers. This cafe was very clinical with 95% of dishes in a fridge wrapped in cling film. There was also a hot food plate with various dishes and soup. The salad /sprout bar looked delicous but as it was cold outside I had the mixed hot plate which was luke warm and very carbohydrate based (pasta, rice, polenta, quinoa). Apart from not being hot (which i hate) and tasting of MSG (which I doubt it was) it was partly ok but left me feeling very heavy. My friend had the luke warm soup, which he liked as it wasn't a thick soup and the rice which he really didn't like. Cost for both dishes (and without drinks) was 85 skehels. We ate our food and left within 15 minutes of entering and without ordering drinks. We decided to go somewhere a bit more cosy for some hot drinks. Would we go back? Unfortunately not. Even though the staff were lovely for us two backpackers the sit down falafel and hummous joints offer much better value for money and are always tasty. For vegans though maybe this place is great?
