Respond to Review of Country Life
Review: It seems all the other reviewers here are referring to the buffet restaurant on Melantrichova St, rather than this small health food store and "deli" type place on Jungmannova. This Country Life on Jungmannova is a delightful, jam-packed, very tiny place to pick up a few things for the vegetarian pantry, and also functions as a small deli counter where you can get soups, pre-made salads, sandwiches, etc. There are a couple of eating surfaces along the front window, but as I said if there are a lot of people in the place (which there were every time I went there), it's a little hard to eat in-house. I got a very tasty bowl of soup, and a nice wrapped sandwich to take back to my pension just up the street. It's 100% vegetarian, and I believe vegan (like the restaurant near the Square). The people there are really nice and very helpful, and the prices can't be beat. This was my first meal upon arriving in Prague, and between this place, the Country Life restaurant on Melantrichova, and Maly Buddha across the river and down from the Castle, I stayed happily fed in a very meat-oriented city. Another huge plus: Country Life is 100% smoke-free! I found listings for both Country Life and Maly Buddha on a smokefree travel site, as I cannot be around secondhand smoke w/out being hospitalized. Pros: Healthy, tasty, vegetarian food made by very nice people in a 100% smoke-free environment... how can you go wrong? Cons: Tends to be very crowded (which is only because it's such a great place).
