Respond to Review of Blossom Restaurant
Review: I went to Blossom on a Saturday night in November. We called around 7 pm hoping they were not too busy - and they said they could seat us (a group of 3) at 8pm. The restaurant has a nice ambience at dinner time. The menu is varied and eclectic, with nut-free and gluten-free options identified. Among the three of us we ordered a lemon seitan scaloppini that was delightful (and I generally don't enjoy seitan very much), a risotto, and a platter consisting of various samplings, like quinoa, brussel sprouts, etc. Some dishes on the menu were very unusual and fancy-sounding (like pistachio dusted tofu, whipped parsnip and "calamari"). I almost got the lasagna, it looked really good and the person beside me eating it said that it was delicious (he and his date also raved about everything else they were eating). Overall, the food was pretty good and the service was very friendly. The real stand-out item, however, was the dessert. We ordered the ice cream trio (made by Lola's - which I will review under that name but it was, in short, unbelievable), and the tiramisu. Blossom is worth a visit just for the vegan tiramisu. It is heavenly. There is a layer that tastes just like whipped cream and I honestly liked it better than the non-vegan tiramisu I had in Italy several years ago. If you are traveling to NYC, Blossom is worth a trip. FYI I paired it with going to the Upright Citizens Brigade, which is a comedy show just up the street in Chelsea.
