Respond to Review of My Thai Vegan Cafe
Review: Meh. It's okay. The decor is definitely hole-in-the-wall. If you know to expect that, it's not such a big deal. The service is pretty weak. Friendly folks, but not entirely clued in. Some mains came out before starters, one person got both starter and main while another person had nothing, there was a ten-minute spread across which all the food materialized, one person brought us the bill while another person was taking an order, etc. Just be prepared for it and it's not a big deal (especially for a hole-in-the-wall). The food was okay. The initial dumplings were decent but nothing special. The soup was the highlight. Actual vegetarian Thai soup! And made well, too. My main was pretty weak. I ordered the tofu variant (you can get lots of fake meat if you prefer); there were a few pieces of tofu, very little vegetable, just lots of noodles and brown sauce. So, lots of carb and not much character. I wouldn't go out of my way to return here. Veggie Thai soup for the win, so if I were in the area, I'd go back for that. But I'd skip most of the rest of the menu.
