Respond to Review of Candle 79
Review: I was taken to Candle 79 for my birthday in June. Based on most reviews of this place, we had pretty high expectations. While the food was good, it wasn't anything extraordinary. The prices are also out of alignment with the taste of their food as well as service provided. The Food: - Live Heirloom Tomato Tartare: This was good, but nothing special - Grilled Seitan Chimichurri: These were impressive, flavored and cooked well - Moroccan Spiced Chick Pea Cake: Disgusting, we sent this dish back - Seitan Picatta: Good, but too sour - Spaghetti and Wheat Balls: Not bad, likely the best entree they have - Polenta Fries: Average - Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss: Does not live up to all the hype, I'd never order this again. The Service: The main reason Candle gets 1 star (HC doesn't allow less than 2 stars for vegan places) is the AWEFUL service (which deserves 0 stars). We were there for 2.5 hours because our server was awkward, rude, slow, and highly inattentive. We had to get up several times to ask for things. The worst was when we were trying to leave we waited forever for him to come back to the table, after asking him for the check we waited another 15 minutes, and at that point I got up and asked him for the check (he was lollygagging in the back after I clearly asked him for the check). When we FINALLY left we complained to the manager, who did absolutely nothing about it. Definitely won't be back.
