Review: Okay, the price might put off some people and get their guards up right away. If you want a special night and price is no matter, consider Candle 79. They have a really good (and unique) wine selection, a menu that makes obvious the creativity and talent of their chef. The decor isn't incredibly upscale but they create an upscale ambiance through the professionalism and attention to service of the staff, the presentation of the dishes and, of course, the taste. Back to price, which is the major gripe of most - the food isn't quite as good as the price would have you believe. For me, Candle 79 did enough to make up for that one knock against them. My wife and I enjoyed our wine, meals and dessert thoroughly. I believe we had the Pumpkin Seed - Crusted Tempeh and Walnut Crusted Seitan. The carrot cake for dessert was transcendent. If you can foot the bill, it's worth a try.
