Respond to Review of PJ Oldtown Foodcourt - Hakka Lui Char Stall
by AndyT

Review: I really like to go to this place - they serve only one dish, which is Hakka Lei Cha (Thunder Tea rice), a traditional dish from the Hakka Chinese minority ... read more about it here: It is healthy and tasty food, and most guests that come to Malaysia are intrigued once they try it out. Price is between RM 5 and 6.50 based on size (EUR 1-1.50) What I like about this stall specifically, is that they do not use chicken or fish broth in preparing the tea soup (then it would not be possible to veganize), but that they only use plants. Be sure to mention that you do want a vegetarian dish, then they will replace the standard ikan bilis (dried anchovy, unfortunately a standard fixture in nearly all Malasian dishes, specifically mention that you do not want to have it whenever ordering something vegan/vegetarian in a restaurant in Malaysia!!!) with a tofu/fried onions variety. The elderly gentleman who runs the stall unfortunately sometimes takes a day off to go to the temple or similar, in that case, no problem, simply go for the vegan stall next to it! If you can not make it to this place, there are also other places in Malaysia that serve Hakka Lei Cha, look out for it. e.g. Be Lohas Cafe or Simple Life)
