Review: Mmm... buffets. Not so chic, yes. But fulfilling. There's the buffet phenomenon of trying to beat your opponents to the food. People get ferocious around the seafood section. Los Sabios fortunately doesn't have a seafood section, as it's an entirely vegetarian/vegan friendly buffet. There are two sections, hot and cold. The hot section has a variety of Chinese style dishes. Lots of imitation meats fried with vegetables, kebobs of corn and bell peppers, fried rice and noodles, imitation fish and so on. In the cold section you'll find a selection of desserts and fruits that are done the Chinese way. That is flan with caramel that is made from tapioca and rice pudding that's made with jasmine rice. It takes a bit getting used to, but the flan made of tapioca started to grow on me. Lastly, located in the back of the restaurant is the dumpling stand where you can get fresh dumplings heated for you (You can also get crushed ice desserts here.). I tried them out and they were sour and came with "latin' toppings like salsa and cheese. Not my cup of tea. It's sometimes hard to defrenciate your feelings for a place when you are vegetarian. You can get trapped in the feeling of appreciation when you find a place that caters to you. Los Sabios has decent food, but it's for sure nothing to write home about.
