Respond to Review of Le Potager du Marais
Review: My wife (vegetarian) and I (vegan) went to Le Potager du Marais this past week while on vacation from New York. The restaurant was full but the staff squeezed us into a corner table. We then ordered the Seitan Bourguignon, Mushroom Duxelles, Charlotte Cake and Creme au Chocolat. Both the Seitan Bourguignon (with fried potatoes) and Mushroom Duxelles were excellent. We were also very pleased with the Charlotte Cake and Creme au Chocolat for desert. The Creme au Chocolat was one of the best vegan renditions of chocolate pudding I have ever had. Overall the food was very good. The wait staff was friendly and were relatively attentive, although a little slow. Despite the satisfying experience, we did have a few criticisms. Our main criticism is the cost. Although the food and service were good, the cost was too high for the quality of the experience. For this price the atmosphere was too cramped and casual. Specific to the food, the flavors of the Seitan Bourguignon were great, the seitan itself was soft and would have benefitted from bring grilled or sauteed before incorporation into the dish. The Mushroom Duxelles was also delicious, but the pureed broccoli that accompanied the dish had a displeasing taste.
