Review: OrienĀ“s gives a very unified eating experience. The chef undoubtedly has a specific impression in mind. Everything is prerpared with thought and care. While the restaurant considers itself "comida corrida" or "food on the go" this refers more to having a set number of dishes you select from. You get either a fruit or vegetable salad, either of 2 soups, maybe 1 hot and 1 cold, then 2 of 3 main entree selections. The meal comes with a set drink and a set dessert. The seasoning is mild. Cooking is not overdone. You are supposed to get the subtle taste of the natural foods. No butter on that whole grain bread, that would detract from the fresh baked goodness. The horchata is made with oats not the sweeter starchy rice. For my meals here I have found a very unexpected blend of flavors and wondered how that could be done. I have also found very simple direct flavors, no mix at all. The place is out of the way, down from Plaza Americas along a boulevard with lots of traffic. The street number is not sequential. Look for the number next door 1493 Garcia de Leon which is easier to find. It is a large restaurant and beautifully appointed. It has charming skylights and no doubt people come in for the relaxed friendly atmosphere.
