Respond to Review of CLOSED: LA Vegan Crepe
Review: I couldn't resist getting a croissant breakfast sandwich because I have not had one since becoming vegan and it was once one of my favorite things. Maybe I should have stuck with a crepe since that's in the restaurant's name and everything. The croissant was really only OK, not as crispy and buttery as I'd like. But they don't make the croissants on location and I thought the tofu and sauce and veggie bacon was good. Also, I liked that I could get a side salad instead of something heavier, and I thought it was a tasty little salad. My biggest problem with this place was that the owner, thinking he was being nice, told me I could "cure" my type 1 diabetes by going vegan. Vegans, listen up! Don't say this, it's untrue and it's insulting! Nothing cures type 1, not even what those people did in that documentary Simply Raw. Also, dude, I *am* a vegan! That's what brought me to your adorable creperie. There are nothing but great reasons to go vegan, but curing type 1 diabetes is, sadly, not one of them. Type 2, sure. But not what I've got. The owner's insistence on arguing with me about this and telling me his wife is a holistic healer or whatever so she "knows" just made me mad. So my view of the place was colored by this. Still, I know he meant well and just wants to spread the joy of veganism for our health, the environment, and for the animals, so I understand.
