Respond to Review of Le Grenier de Notre Dame
Review: I love the setup of this place: the building is great, with a cool spiral staircase up to the second floor. I've been here twice over the last couple of weeks. The staff were attentive and explained the menu, on which vegan options were generally clearly marked anyway. On our first visit I ordered one of the vegan mains called Le Speciale Proteine. This was a decent sized meal, but unfortunately it was just not that full of flavour. There was a sense of a lot of different (largely proteiny) things put on a plate, such as beans, potato and soy protein, but not really working together. My partner ordered the spaghetti (with non-vegan cheese, but this can be left out) and said it was OK. The prices were fine for the generous portion size but not the quality. We went back a second time and this time ordered a starter of falafel and a salad. Both of these were absolutely delicious, and although we hadn't realised the salads were meal-sized, I would say based on my experience that they are the strength of this place. Unfortunately our mains - my partner's plat and my vegan cassoulet - were as disappointing as my first main had been, lacking flavour and texture. However, I definitely would come back here and order salads as my main in the future.
