Respond to Review of Brown Rice Organic Bistro
Review: We visted Brown Rice Restaurant several times during our stay in Chiang Mai (which has a good selection of vegetarian restaurants) and this was definitely our favourite. We tried Chef Duang's fresh spring rolls, garlic fried mushrooms and crispy tofu salad, (Penang-style) red curry, the yummy Mussaman, the green curry and also stir-fried tofu and vegies. All the flavours were exquisite and the vegetables beautifully cooked. Service is friendly, but can be quite slow as Duang prepares everything fresh in a tiny kitchen. However, hopefully this is sonething that can be remedied in time, as the food is definitely too good to miss. When we visited there were also local Thais eating at the restaurant - another good sign! The chef, who has himself been a vegetarian for twenty-plus years, came out to take our order and talk to all his customers. His passion for good food and Vegetarianism is obvious. Note that this premises will be closing down at the end of September and re-opening in another nearby location (with Health Food Store) shortly afterwards. We wish him the best of luck - as with the launch of the English-language version of his cookbook - and highly recommend his restaurant and his delicious Thai vegetarian food.
