Respond to Review of Green Pizz
Review: There's one vegan pizza here, called Tutti Legumi. It took me a while to get mine, because when I first went in there today, they said it'd be ready in ten minutes. I came back in a bit and they said that they needed to make another one because they'd burnt the first one. It was inconvenient, but not a deal breaker. Also, the staff pretty much don't speak English. Anyway, the pizza was kind of boring. I thought from the description that there'd be flavourful vegetable puree/paste instead of tomato sauce, but there was really just a very thin wash of a green vegetable spread on the bottom, which was topped with a whole lot of arugula, some roasted red capsicum, and some grilled zucchini and eggplant. The base was a bit salty, and was pretty much too thin to really be classed as a pizza. It was kind of more like a satisfyingly chewy cracker. The lightness of it meant that it really couldn't support the weight of all the vegetables, and no vegan cheese meant that there was nothing to hold it on, so it was pretty messy. It was kind of like eating salad and crackers or a thin, chewy flatbread. I admire the philosophy of the place in wanting to provide a low-calorie, heathy pizza, and I can't speak of their other pizzas because they have cheese on them, but I think that vegan pizza is one of those things where you shouldn't try to skimp on fat and calories. With a rich paste, perhaps with some much-needed garlic, beneath the vegetables and a more substantial crust, the pizza could have been memorable. As it was, it was edible and felt healthy, but it was a bit bland and I wouldn't go to Green Pizz again when there are better options in Paris at this price point, with more choices for vegans.
