Respond to Review of DYNE
Review: A friend and I recently had some time to kill on the way to the Kerry airport, and we thought we'd stop in Killarney for a few hours. Disappointingly, we couldn't find any vegan options, as all of the Chinese/Thai/Indian/kebab restaurants aren't open for lunch, for some reason. We stopped by the tourist information center, and they recommended we could try this place, Pay-as-you-Please. We went by and found that they have a different menu every day, with one guaranteed veg option (which they later told us is usually vegan, along with most of their soup options). The veg option of the day was a Matsumman (massaman) curry, with a bit of a twist. It had sweet potatoes, in addition to regular potatoes, carrots and green beans, served with rice. The side dish was a pickled salad of cucumbers, onions, parsley, cilantro and tomatoes, all diced. Both were very good, and we were pleasantly surprised. We spoke with the staff about veganism/their daily veg options, and they informed us that they know what veganism is and will gladly prepare a fresh meal using the day's ingredients for anyone who is vegan and can't find something suitable on the menu, whether for allergies or beliefs. They will use a separate space in the kitchen, if requested, for vegans or people with allergies. The great attitude of the staff made the food even more enjoyable, and finding this place was a relief. If we didn't find something here, we were just going to eat airport food (extremely disappointing idea). They have free wi-fi, also. You pay whatever you think the food/experience was worth. We probably paid more than what we would have paid at a comparable restaurant with set prices, just because we were so happy with everything. If you're vegan and wind up in Killarney at lunch time, this is your best (or maybe only) option.
