Respond to Review of Gentle Gourmet Cafe
Review: I can't make much sense of some of the other reviews of this restaurant, except to say that this place has only been open for 2 months, so might have had some teething troubles. My husband and I were so impressed with our dinner at Gentle Gourmet that we came back the next morning for breakfast (il y a 8 ans depuis je mange croissants!! a real treat). Had this been the first place we'd gone to in Paris, I would have said it was expensive, but it just is expensive to eat out in Paris, and Gentle Gourmet was comparatively good value for money in that context. We ordered the Tarte Tartin Tomate and a salad that had vegetale and nut cheeses. Both were absolutely lovely, and a very good size for entrées (perhaps the reviewer who thought the portions too small mistook "entrée" for "main", as they do in some parts of the world). For the main dish we ordered the lasagne and polenta. The polenta was a standout; the lasagne was a raw lasagne -- good, but I've had better. Unfortunately we were too full to order dessert. The next morning for breakfast: croissants and bread with fruit and coffee ("noissette", with soy milk). I was in heaven. And did I mention that they serve vegan croissants?!! The staff were very nice and helpful, and the atmosphere pleasant. It was a standout compared with all the other places we ate in Paris.
