Review: This place is the real deal. I've visited about two dozen veg establishments in the city and this one takes the cake for its food, friendliness, and atmosphere. Located in the residential area of Villa de Aburra, right between Belen and Laureles, it's easy to reach from the swanky Los Molinos Mall or from 33rd with its bars and discos. The restaurant itself is set back a bit and features a super bacán outdoor seating area perfect for watching life go by in this typical, tourist-free Medallo barrio. Across the street from a park and a safe neighborhood to walk around in. The food is fantastic; as far as I can tell, this is the only truly vegan restaurant in the city at the moment. Fantastic creative fusion, great sandwiches, mock meat dishes specials, unique juices, and regional surprises. They also have a small shop with high quality natural foods and offer a nice cross-selection of products from the growing local natural community including vegan brownies and chocolates. It's very convenient if you're staying near Laureles, but otherwise you still owe it to yourself to take a taxi out here (you could also go to Parque Belen and walk from there), and get to know this side of the city. Open late on weekends, and from 9 a.m. in the morning starting February 2012. Very highly recommended!

Vegarden is a wonderful place to eat! Even if you are non-vegan, you will find the food delicious! I have met the owner, and he has a lot of passion for the vegan lifestyle. His head chef was raised vegan, and has been cooking professionally for decades. I always eat on the patio, the view is inspiring, and the atmosphere of the neighborhood is calm and relaxing...
