Review: We found this tiny place by accident, our attention initially drawn by the Bio food store on the opposite side of the street. Its sign advertises 'plats vegetariens' as well as its fair trade and organic credentials, but be warned it is not fully veggy, also serving dishes which contain fish, chicken and even ham. But, that said, the vast majority of food on offer is veggy, even if much contains some form of cheese. That is a substantial step forward in a town where, pizza and pasta places apart, veggy options are far from the norm. It is also very tasty and wholesome with some imaginative choices. My wife had a ricotta, goat's cheese and spinach filo while I had tomato, onion and parmesan crumble, both with a mixed salad and both delicious. The cafe is small and very popular so you may need to share a table at lunchtime. It is brightly decorated and had a lively atmosphere, clearly being popular with local students and workers. There's no standing on ceremony. You select your own food from a chilled cabinet and take it to the till for heating (if necessary) before finding somewhere to sit. It's not a romantic dining out kind of place. But it's a budget haven for veggies out shopping, being just round the corner from Les Halles indoor market (from the Belfry turn right and look for the Bio sign opposite the cafe). It also does a roaring trade in takeaways (an option if you can't get a seat)
