Respond to Review of CLOSED: Sui Yuet Lam Vegetarian Restaurant
Review: From the outside it just looks like one of those traditional Chinese vegetarian restaurants, with a small counter next to the entrance for takeaway and a sit-down dining area in the back; but the food is nothing alike. For one, it's not greasy and oily. It's also pretty much free of mock meat, so you can taste the veggies like the way they should. Food we had was all tasty without being oversalted and MSG-laden, which is sadly quite often the case in Chinese restaurants. Prices are very reasonable, most dishes are around HKD50 as far as I can remember, and they are meant to be shared, so portion size is good. Bit of a downside is the menu, it's got a huge selection, but sometimes you won't be able to tell what the main ingredients are just by looking at the dishes' names as there's no description whatsoever. Also, egg and dairy are not marked, but I would assume it's mostly vegan as are the majority of vegetarian Chinese restaurants in town. Service OK, place is clean and has a lovely white/green theme. Nothing fancy, but more than enough to make for an enjoyable meal.
