Respond to Review of Olive and Cookie
Review: Really this place is vegetarian with a fish dish every so often. Calling it "veg friendly" is misleading. Amsterdam has a horrible trend in "casual eating" where all the food is put out and what you order is then microwaved in front of you (often in plastic containers) ie foodware, Uliveto, Today's Italian, and many more. At least Olive and Cookie reheats the food stovetop or in the oven. The food itself is high quality. The husband and wife team (only one works at a time while the other is with their child) are very sweet and part of the neighborhood (have seen the husband out teaching their kid how to ride a bike). A little on the expensive side (not super expensive but for me I can't eat there too often) but mainly because you want to try multiple things. Quite possibly the best appeltaart in Amsterdam, despite every cafe making an attempt at appeltaart, it usually lacks everything. The roasted root vegetables are great, but easily duplicated at home. The savory tarts are the best part (pear and goat cheese; polenta and sundried tomato, etc) and worth trying.
