Respond to Review of CLOSED: Gurkha Square Restaurant Bar
by SplashWellyKid

Review: [Gurkha Palace is now closed but an entirely different restaurant, Sahaba's Indo-Asian Grill has opened in the same location & is also vegan-friendly - see its reviews] Gurkha Palace is the first of St Leonard-on-Sea's two seafront Nepalese restaurants we've tried, both within a couple of minutes' walk from each other. Each has its own dedicated vegan menu, so why not sample both? The quiet, relaxed corner venue looks upmarket & has helpful & friendly staff. An ideal place for any occasion - whether a quick or leisurely bite with friends or a more formal meal. Takeaway is also available. We've been here a number of times & often opt for one of the special menu deals (see their website or windows for lunchtime, evening & £10.66 set meal deals - vegan substitutions can be made). It's around £25, excluding alcoholic drinks, for the set vegan dinner for two (starters, mains, side dishes & coffee); other deals are cheaper. Don't forget to try their speciality - the Nepalese Momo (steamed vegan dumplings, filled with veg & served with chutney). Food is moderately priced, good portions & contains flavoursome spices without being too hot & spicy. Sadly no vegan desserts or soya milk available.
