Respond to Review of 4 Stones Vegetarian Cuisine
Review: with only a couple more restaurants to try, 4 stones is undoubtedly my vote for the best vegetarian in the greater vancouver area. a small place in a small strip-mally location, the ambience would lead you to believe this was another run-of-the mill asian restaurant. opening the menu you will see a ridiculous amount of options (100 or more?), but what you really came here for was the fake meat, right? i don't think you will believe me that this "meat" is like no other in terms of art and sheer craftsmanship... which is why you have to try it for yourself. for instance, a beef soup has chunks of meat not only with a colour and flavour of beef, but with tofu strips interwoven to make the meat actually look like beef on the bone. similarly, the lemon chicken is fried goodness wrapped around "bone" asparagus. the red fermented cutlet is amazing, the deep fried oysters are unbelievable, and pretty much everything is made with care and class. how many asian resztaurants have you been to where the garnish includes fried crispy basil? exactly--none, whether or not vegetarian. this is really world-class vegetarian fare, and you will find yourself going back again and again, wanting to work your way through the entire menu! note that you will probably want to park in one of the public lots just east of the restaurant as there is almost never any space in the restaurant lot.
