Respond to Review of The Lodge
Review: We stayed at The Lodge December 15-29, 2013. Let's start with the Lodge. The Lodge sits on a breathtaking lot overlooking St George's. You are surrounded with lush garden and trees on an immaculately kept property. The lodge itself is gorgeous, a tropical cabin. There is a great common room with couches, a big stack of vegan magazines, books, and binoculars to watch the abundant beautiful birds. Our room had great double doors which opened up to view St George's. We kept them open all night to watch the stars and enjoy the breeze. The Caribbean breeze is amazing. The four poster bed is enveloped in a sparking white canopy which cleverly doubles as an extremely effective mosquito net. The on site pool is an oasis. It is clean, cool and refreshing. A great place to hang out or do laps. After we visited the beach we always had a dip in the pool to cool off. The very affordable and regular bus stops right in front of the lodge and will quickly take you to St George's, and from there you can catch a bus to Grand Anse beach, Spice Land mall etc. The trip to the beach is quick. The hosts, Mark and Mathew are great. Mark is a fantastic chef. Each morning we enjoyed a huge fresh fruit salad, toast, muesli, soy milk, coffee etc. Each might was a wholesome, delicious homemade dinner of soup, bread, salad, main course and desert which was generally a fruit sorbet. We also lucked out and had his amazing chocolate mousse one night. The main courses were creative and we were never bored with the food during our 2 week stay. Some meal examples include; seared polenta with vegetables, homemade sietan roast, Caribbean oil down, tempura vegetables, quinoa and vegetables etc etc. so many dishes I can not even recall the list. Mark is a lovely, kind, and fascinating person. On our second day he took us on a tour of St. George and the beach area, telling us how to use the bus, tips on lunch spots etc. Mark also helped us to arrange a lovely catamaran ride and snorkelling trip plus a wonderful day long island tour, which were both worth the cost. I highly recommend The Lodge.
