Review: In college we ate at the Seattle Wild Ginger on many occasions and the food was zinging with delight. Vegetarian entrees were loaded with a variety of colorful veggies and tasty light sauces. This weekend we wanted to treat some friends (and ourselves) to a meal and we agreed on the Bellevue Wild Ginger. While we enjoyed seeing friends we have to admit the vegetarian dishes were sadly uninspired. Both meat and vegetarian menus are way too protein centered with little in the way of vegetables. The separate vegetarian menu offers a selection of tofu dishes with amazingly few veggies; and the sauces are way too heavy. Even the vegetarian satay seems uninspired. The veggie skewer is just two grilled vegetable and a mushroom: a zucchini slice, an eggplant wedge and a small shiitake mushroom. Not much too it. The fresh rolls are - well - boring and bland with (again) not much in the way of vegetables; the accompanying pineapple sauce & dip is nothing to write home about either. Our friends say the meat dishes are good. But the vegetarian is sorely mediocre. This turned out to be a big let down because we arrived at the dinner table with high expectations and healthy appetites. While we'd not say the restaurant is expensive in terms of dollars and cents it seems overpriced considering the lack of vegetables and uninspired dishes. In any case, Wild Ginger is certainly not a place for vegetable hungry vegetarians! Updated from previous review on Saturday March 03, 2012
