Respond to Review of Yummy Vegan Ice Cream and Vegetarian Food
Review: This is a simple roadside shack of wood and corrugated iron over chunky picnic tables painted red, gold and green. It's really popular with local people - constant stream of people popping in for takeaway or just to hang out - arrive early to have a full choice of food from the list behind the counter. This list does nothing to "sell" dishes to you, with no fancy titles or descriptions. We ordered a rasta-pasta plate and a rice plate with little idea about what would arrive though we did check everything was vegan. Both platters had a lovely soya chunk curry dish, salad and roast plantain with either delicious fried rice or pasta with veg and a creamy soya-milk based sauce. You must also try the brilliant homemade ginger drink - really strong flavour. Everything is suitably laid-back, quite a long wait for anything to happen but it's all worth the wait and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Eventually some regulars and cafe staff got their guitars, mics and keyboards to work through the ancient-looking amp and battered speakers and started jamming with a guy on what remained of a drumkit - the BEST reggae music we heard during our stay in Antigua! Filling plate of food for about 20EC. Other dishes and cakes sometimes available.
